It looks like we’re got another retcon, but it is good that 343 didn’t ignore the issue. It sounds like, according to the latest data drop, that the Spartans commandeered all the M90s for REG FLAG, leaving only the M45s for the soldiers on the Autumn, which is why the Reach model is being used in Anniversary.

It’s a little disappointing that 343 didn’t recreate the M90, from a canon perspective, as we are getting hit with a lot of retcons, but, as I said before, at least 343 aren’t leaving it up to us, the community to patch everything together.

The way I understood it, the Spartans took all the M90’s from Reach, leaving only the M45’s for the soldiers on Reach. That’d be why the Army and Marines in Halo Reach use the M45 Shotgun, not the M90.

It is nice that there is now a reason why there is a different shotgun in anniversary, but I do wonder why the Spartans needed all the M90s.

They took all of the M90’s from the Autumn’s armory, not the entire planet of Reach. lol

well dora the explorer stole all the other m90s to use on the writers of her show

I gather the M90s were destroyed with the Spartan Lasers and BRs in the armouries that were destroyed when the Autumn was escaping Reach’s system.

All that was left for the crew, and so the campaign of CE, was the 45’s.

Honestly, basic weapons don’t matter to me in canon.

The M90 holds 12 shells and, from a gameplay perspective, had the effective range of a sniper rifle.
