All these advice sites and posts say to uninstall the HD Content pack, and I did. Hadn’t had crashing, until I got the Campaign. BTB stopped working after I got Campaign, so I didn’t play much, but when I did, I noticed I’m crashing again. Well, it appears the Campaign forces you to have the HD Content pack installed, because every time I uninstall it, it reinstalls itself. I uninstalled the whole game, tried to only install the Base Game and Campaign, but on downloading, the HD Content pack checked itself anyway.
This means I have to keep the Campaign uninstalled for the Multiplayer to be more stable. Luckily, I collected all the skulls and armor lockers, then did a LASO, so I have no reason to play Campaign anymore, but for anyone suddenly crashing in Multiplayer again, especially when in a fireteam with friends, check if HD Content pack reinstalled itself. When you’re back from your break 343, you need to unforce this pack.
Tl;dr Campaign forces itself to reinstall HD Content pack, which every site and post says you need to uninstall if you crash a lot, so Multiplayer is unstable unless you uninstall Campaign.
Tried doing it in the in-game settings, and tried doing it in the game pass download manage game settings. Both ways automatically checkmark the HD Content to turn back on and redownload. Option 2 for me would be to download it on Steam so I can still have the campaign downloaded on Game Pass, and only play the multiplayer on Steam, but that’s such a hassle to have to do another work around.
According to Steam I have them both uninstalled, and I still get the random crashes in MP. Only capping at 60fps seems to reduce the chance of it. Some suggest it might be caused by desyncs with console players capped at 60. But it also seems like the playlist update they put out borked the game all over, and was poorly tested so who knows.
Honestly I’m not 100% sure, but I’m on PC, and my friend is on console, and almost every time we are in a fireteam together, we are both suddenly constantly crashing, but otherwise almost never used to crash, so I suppose busted cross-play could be a possibility. I might crash at the beginning of a match, in the middle, while loading, I might crash right at the end when we are about to win. There is no signs that it’s going to happen. It happens for seemingly literally no reason at all.
I’m crashing at least 1-2 times a day, i checked steam and i saw that the hd campaign texture pack is still uninstalled, so the problem must be something else
That’s only one of the many things that can do it. You can also disable Windows 10 background recording, your Graphics Card Overlay (ex Nvidia GeForce Experience), Steam Overlay, Xbox Game Bar Overlay, etc. It’s amazing how many things there are that cause Halo Infinite to crash, that no other games seem to have an issue with.
