Reading the lore of the core it says the armor platform was made for and used by Delta 6. At the time it was developed there were likely no Spartans in the unit anyway so this platform was basically made for elite ODSTs. Given this info the armor is likely not powered/semipower and it wasnt intended for use by spartans.
The fact that it is used by spartans at all is somewhat odd assuming they have access to a mjolnir playform, but given the the supposed operation use of the armor its likely if a spartan chose to wear this its because its still a robust and modifiable platform that needs less maintenance when on long ops behind enemy lines. Maybe similiar to spartan 3s not being given mjolnir becayse they were essentially being sent of suicide missions anyway.
Honestly I’m guessing the fact that it has sheilding in MP in non-canon to the actual armor but could be excused by the fact MP is staged as a wargame simulation.
Reddit has a bit of insight to this. Some say its they dont wear actual armor because MJONIR requires machines to remove each piece. Where as Rakshasa is a field armor for deep behind enemy lines. If a piece is damaged, they can easily make mods without the need of machines. But that also means they probably dont have any type of shields. Basically, they’re spec-ops that take what they need as they go. Probably why most of their attachments are simple things. E-Tool, med kit, knives. All things you’d need to basically survive longer times in the field. Their armor is similar to modern day Black-Op teams. Each member would have something the whole team would need.
I mean of course in game it has to have shields for gameplay purposes, but it could be a semi powered suit kinda like the SPI armor or a modified set of updated/upgraded ODST armor. One of the wrist attachments is a shield emitter from an elite. Elites in infinite don’t keep their shields on constantly like a MJOLNIR suit does. So they could be using similar if not the same tech. And of course all the same stuff about not needing a complicated rig to remove pieces so they can be easily replaced or modified. Which can be done with the ODST suits.
Exactly. But it would also make sense for a Rakshasa to be deployed with some kind of silenced weapon at first. I mean these guys go deep behind enemy lines looking for intel and doing recon work. These guys are usually alone or with one other person in the field. Can’t really start making a lot of noise in a Banished base or ship. I get why they carry knives, but a silenced pistol or SMG would be their weapon of choice I would think.
Possibly, but I’d assume that they scavenge weapons because they go on long unsupported ops. So maybe have some silenced weapons for when you might get into combat, but they’re not going to have the ammo to last numerous encounters. You can just grab a plasma pistol or pulse carbine followed by a swift stab and it’s fairly quiet and ammo is abundant.
Very true. The Banished only seem interested in the Bulldog and the Commando too. Their weapon racks always have those guns. But they also raided a lot from the UNSC. Some of the bases had tons of UNSC weapons. So they’d have a small way to stock up on ammo as they went along. When they add to the narrortive of their story, they should show more of what the Rakshasa does in the field. We only seen them returning from stealing an AI and Eklunds brief convo with us for the LSS playlist. They need more. More backround beside these 3 minute shorts of then returning to base lol.
In a waypoint blog it talked about how they needed to find energy cells for Rakshasa in the field. They have a techsuit underneath the suit that is out you can tell by looking at the feet. The energy cells would probably be fitted to the chest area for easy access and removal. There is no back armor due to it being more of a stealthy Mjolnir platform. So it does have energy cells to feed it power and most likely shields.
