About the Prom Knights in future games....

343i Worked on the Promethean Knights very hard, and I believe it is very safe to assume that they will be in Halo 5 and Halo 6, but the thing is, how will they fit in?

There’s two possibilities:

  1. They will side with the UNSC after they have gained the ability to control them (or at least that’s what Spartan Ops makes me think)

  2. Or they will remain enemies (the Ur-Didact might still be alive etc.)

What does the community think?

It’s fairly obvious that humanity will be tested again, I thought somehow that in Silentium the Primordial is found out to be a huge liar or something when the Didact was revealed to be the enemy, but the Librarian and the Chief speak to eachother, and it goes something like this:

L:“you are the culmination of a thousand lifetimes of planning.”
C:“Planning for what?”

So I figure that right there confirms that humanity will face something worse than the Forerunners.

Discuss, my fellow Halo fans.

Think we will still have the same 2 types: Blue and Orange.

I’m hoping for more Specialized forms. Something between the Promethian Knight and the Promethian Crawler.

As for their role in future games I’m hoping they don’t join up with humanity. I mean we already have the Spartan Program I don’t think we need anymore firepower.

Who knows, perhaps we’ll get something like Halo 2 and 3 where we fight against and with Prometheans as we did the Elites. Although technically we fought Brutes but you get the idea. Fight with and against Covenant forces. Speaking of Elites, I would honestly like to see them become more in tune with the Prometheans they fight beside. The Storm should get Promethean Armor customized just for them so they and the Knights feel like one single faction. Can you picture an Elite wearing Forerunner-ized armor? I can and it’s glorious!

Then introduce the Arbiter’s Elites who look more like their Covenant selves, maybe their own updated armor, (better than what the Storm are currently using), and maybe give us some technology sharing between them and the UNSC. This would only work if Lord Hood and the Arbiter actually get their way of course.

I completely agree with you on Arbiter’s covenant with original Covenant look.
343I better do this seriously.

I bet the whole thing will be turned upside down.

I’m willing to bet on Arbiter to return…and I’m curious to see how he will respond to Jul basically breathing new life into the Covenant religion that so many Elites are craving for. Will Arbiter stick to our side, or will he side with Jul?
My bet his internal power struggle with Jul will leave him siding with us.

Then we will no doubt get some Promethean Knights on our side. Possibly the ones constructed from the event at the end of Halo 4. Taken away from Forerunner/Didact’s controls.

What I find more interesting is what will happen with the evolution of the Knights? So far we’ve only seen Human adaptations of the Knights. Will “they” (whoever we will be facing) also start to compose other lifeforms? Will we see Elite Knights for instance?
And if that is the case, what makes Didact think he is anything better than a Gravemind? After all: they do exactly the same thing.

this is a different “take”. i do not believe this is what’s going to happen in H5/H6, but i was just recently thinking that the knights’ spawning mechanics (->watchers ->crawlers) would be perfect for flood/precursors combat forms and could serve as a gameplay-introduction-variant to what we’ll face in H5 and H6.

to make myself more clear: we already have spore-carrier forms, which can be seen as spiritual ancestors to promethean units, since they carried other units with them. if i was a game designer and wanted to make the flood more interesting to fight, i think i’d start there. use the Flood’s bio-engineering abilities to create more interesting units/combinations to fight.
something like the classic knight/rushing crawler combination, or a long range (sniper) unit spawning a powerful close range protector (i’m thinking a crab like form crawling over the body of it’s “master”, lunging at everyone coming near it). spawning stuff is just something i associate more with biological enemies than artificial constructs like the knights…

I love the way everyone is talking about the Arbiter returning due to Jul and the fact that he has a civl war…

Halo 4 takes place what, 4 years after the events of the thursday war? (we dont know when Halo 5 will take place) the chances are Arbys dead.

Sorry guys.

Think about it, How can Jul get so much military materiel without the Arbiter gettipng involved, assuming he has then he’s more than likely gone cos we see jul with al the stuff.

Yea me too… I think they have already killed the unkillable Arbiter in the third novel or during the end of Spartan Ops we see something very bad happen to him and Rtas

I don’t think the Arbiter is dead. Although ONI screwed him over and destroyed some of his ships in the Thursday War, the book ended with talk of continued diplomacy. They even talk of inviting the Arbiter aboard the Infinity to give him a tour. As long as Lord Hood still has his back, the Arbiter should be alright. I see Jul 'Mdama as the “Anti-Arbiter.”

I’m betting that in Halo 5 we fight against them for a short time, but eventually restore their freedom/memories and they choose to join us.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but no he’s not.
He is mentioned in “The Return” by the unnamed shipmaster. Taking place after Halo 4.
he is mentioned as his champion and is not said to be dead at all.

I can’t help but think of the supposed Precursor test though.
