About the music...

So after hearing some of the music in Halo 4, I thought about this new music, here are my thoughts:
Its good music, but its not Halo music. I think that 343i should keep the orignal theme at least. Halo music has always delivered a magical feel to it. So please bring Halo music back!

I’ve seen this thread a million times and my advice is wait until you hear the music in game. Fitting music with a game we have yet to play is probably the reason you can’t hear it as Halo music.

Give it time sir and after you hear it and still don’t like it, then thats understandable.

If you really believe that, you’re just kidding yourself. A vast majority of the people here loves Marty’s music to death, and it’s a given that the transition over to Neil certainly won’t be a smooth one since we’ve grown so fond of the past 10 years of Halo music.

I like music that moves me beyond the adreniline rush. As good as Marty is, he never did that for me, so I’ve never understood how people think his music felt “magical.”

Without even having played the game yet, I’ve already gotten chills from the enigma of Requiem, and pumped from the epicness of A NewI Journey. I prefer Davidge over Marty; he has that cinematic weight to his music, that emotional power that I feel has always been lacking in Halo. With H4’s scope and scale, that is now necessary. I can assure you, if people could remove their nostalgia goggles, Davidge would be much more appreciated.

Really??? I got the Halo vibe from it

i agree, IMO neil davidge is taking the over used cliche epic style with some of his tracks, it seems that he is following the latest trend of music that are in a lot of movies and games for me he is not standing out from the crowd.

When listening to some of his tracks the music runs out of steam before half way and the rest of the track dosnt seem to go any where. I dont feel a connection with his music so far, listen to the music in the accolade trailer i think thats a good example of over used cliche epic music that imo does not belong in any halo game even if the story is taking very serious route.

I dont mean to sound like a basher or a jerk about this i just my judgement on what i’ve heard so far, obviously i will have to wait until the game comes out i hope my opinion will change.

Are you sure it doesn’t sound like Halo?

That video and this one is like the only one’s that sounds like Halo to me.

Well that’s good then, because there’s more tracks in that video than we’ve heard.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=23v9O7kNaP0 What about this one, Requiem? It sounds like a new Halo, very enigmatic and ancient, but not a rehash of the same thing.

We have listened to not a lot of it. They use a lot of the same music to keep things as a surprise I guess.

Because of this thread I’m going to have this music in my head all day. Awesome.

Question: What is ‘Halo’ music?

  1. I assume you are reasonably smart and know you cant keep recycling the same soundtracks and themes game, after game. = New music.

  2. I also assume you know that this is 343i, not Bungie, Neil Davidge not Martin O Donnell, Halo 4 not Halo 3. See the pattern? = New series.

The music sounds nothing short of amazing to me. It’s different, of course it is, we’d be complaining that Neil ‘can’t create his own Halo music’ if it wasn’t. Also, just because we havnt heard/ isnt going to be an monk chants in Halo 4 doesnt classify the music as ‘not Halo’.
