So i was reading the latest blogpost yesterday. Did anyone else notice the gist of it seems to be: “… post launch, … wont make it at launch” …
I mean come on, what kind of spaghetti code is this game if they can’t even load in the new medal designs till after launch? 98% of the feedback from the flighting is gonna get updated “post launch”. And ofcourse they restated that “launch is only the beginning for us”. It didn’t occur to me till now that they meant this literally …
I know this has been talked about alot but this game just seems far from ready the more we find out about it …
i really really hope i’m wrong though.
Yeah I noticed it too. Some of the bigger changes I understand. But there are others that are head scratchers. My only thought is that they’re either busy making sure everything else is ready to launch or they’re worried about saying something will be there at launch and then it not making it. Then the community would crucify them.
After they saw how everyone calmed down about assassinations they been using it as a blanket statement as they dont even have to follow through. take cross-core customization right? ske7ch’s exact words are “…thinking about ways to open that up…” so technically in order to %100 follow through with that all they have to do is just think about that. but even then say they only make gloves cross-core well then they did their part they added a new way to customize.
Now before people get upset I don’t think they would do just gloves I can see gloves, helmets, and shoulders being mixable, I am just using it as an example on how if they really wanted to they dont have to do anything that they are “thinking about” so people giving them too much slack for using this blanket excuse isnt healthy. but neither is just expecting the worse all the time from 343I
I feel the best way to do this would to be is make a transparent shifting roadmap. Say “hey this isnt a promise of anykind but at this point it seems like X will release during X season”. take assassinations right put that on the map as “maybe season 3” and if something comes up and it cant be worked on then just move it back a season. this way the community can see that its actually being given time to while not holding the devs hostage to deadlines so that they can do it right, would also work well with flight testing I feel.
I don’t know how these things work, but I would assume that with each Flight, they would have set aside X amount of time and resources to adjusting the game based on player feed back. Perhaps there was just more adjustments needed then they were expecting, or in areas of the game that they thought we would like.
For instance, perhaps during testing and reviewing, the new medals and needler sounds revived positive feedback. And so they weren’t expecting to have to work on them as well as in general areas of the game.
Perhaps they were faced with the choice of; over promise and underdeliver leading to more bad press at launch, or take the small hit now to avoid a bigger hit later.
I suppose the main thing is that they addressed the concerns, rather than not saying anything and hoping they can fix it before launch.

At this stage of the development, any change that you do could break something or introduce new problems.
If you want to release the game later this year, you need to stop adding new stuff at some point.
Some changes are easier than others, but the focus is in trying to make the game as bug free as possible.
The game isn’t ready that should have been clear already. They are pushing for the release date but infinite should be delayed and the best possible start should be given to the launch of this supposed 10 year title.
