Don’t get your hopes too high about this until someone from 343 confirms it. You will be disappointed. Very disappointed. Let’s take a step back and think about this realistically.
As great as this sounds, I have serious doubts that it’s true, seeing as it was said by someone that I personally don’t find to be a very good source. It’s a bold claim and 343 would have likely already told us that this was the case if it was true. If someone from 343 said this, I’d be all for it. As it stands, I’m not going to take this as 100% fact because it would lead to a lot of disappointment if I was led to believe this and then it turned out to be just a wild exaggeration.
Don’t get me wrong, I would LOVE to be wrong about this but I feel we will get a game about as long as Halo 4 or maybe just a little bit longer at the very most.
Until release day it’s all just hype.
I’m counting on it being about as long as Halo 4, or maybe 1-2 missions longer at the most. More likely it will have the same amount of missions, its just the environments that are larger and have more to explore. So in theory if you take your time…the game will last longer lol.
Here’s the thing, we are playing as two different teams so it makes sense that the campaign will be long. If we have eight missions like Halo 4 that’s only four locations we visit with Blue and then revisit with Osiris. It may not be exactly twice as many but it’s going to have to be a lot longer then 4 if it wants to tell a good story. And yes I am aware that if you put the Halo 2 missions together based on the locations, there’d only be eight levels, four for Arby and four for Chief.

I hope you’re right.

It would be great if the climax of the story isn’t based on the final confrontation of the two teams. It would be great to have half the missions dedicated to one team, but hopefully the “revisited” level structure doesn’t follow that course for the entire game.
Although the twice as long comments are still doubtful. We are looking at a very halo 2-like game, so at least the bar is high. I can’t help but think if the game was truly twice the length of Halo 4, then the devs would have been leading with that as incentive for players,al as opposed to walking around the subject the way they have.
I remember reading about the lines of dialog before, and people basing game length on that, but long cutscenes aside, it falls flat with a game that has contextual verbal cues for 8 characters. That would dwarf the size of the game by comparison to other titles in the series.

For the game overall, but how about the pace in which you experience it?
Wasn’t they an article or statement saying players shouldn’t rush through the story?

IDK, but you can speedrun just about anything. That doesn’t necessarily make the game short.

Come on man, we just got solid proof that Halo 5 is twice as long as Halo 4.

It’s not about speed running, it’s about how necessary the things you engage in the game that progresses you in the story or treats you to more lore/eye candy/fights.

Not naysaying, just giving you food for thought.

I am confident that 343 can deliver a quality campaign after playing Halo 4 and seeing all this information for Halo 5.

I can’t remember the game but I remember a title that was advertised as big but was also mentioned by the creators that you really need to “take your time”.
Wish I could remember.
Again, just being open minded here and cautious lol.

MGSV: Ground Zeroes? The game that was essentially 10 minutes long with an open world?

I think it is about speed running. If you “take your time” and explore Rapture and find a bunch of secrets and audio recordings and hunt down all the Big Daddies your original Bioshock playtime will be much longer than it would be if you just ran though the storyline as fast as possible. That stuff isn’t “necessary”, and it won’t “progress” you, but it’s content and it’s there for you if you look for it.

No, it was a last gen title.
Dam I can’t remember lol but I do remember the backlash because the game ultimately failed to live up.

Depends on the player, some people would want to look for extras like that, but such things can fuel the main experience if it’s done well enough like in most RPGs.
Spitballing here, I’m hungry and I’m still waiting for my meal lmao.
Hopefully this game does what it should and deliver because if this becomes a Halo 4 repeat idk man. Campaign better be good as everyone is hyped it is going to be.

If the game is twice as long as Halo 4 then a speedrun would still take hours wouldn’t it? You don’t have to rush through the game. Play on Heroic, look around a bit, soak it all in, find the secret weapons or flanking routes. Running through the game is entirely up to you, just don’t complain about how short it was after you beat it.
