About quitting and banning

So, Infinite is out for a week and I managed to play roughly 100 games, 90% in Ranked. And beside the great core gameplay and the many, many things 343 has to improve and think about I ask myself: WTF did the Team do the last 6 YEARS to solve or improve the whole quitting problematic?

Sticking with the ban sysmte… but why? Why on earth would you work with solutions 20+ years old instead of thinking or at least copying new and better ones?

In a shooter like Halo, which unavoidable gets frustrating at some point you can’t prevent quitting. Be it rage quitting, quitting to join a friends party or simply beeing disconnected due various reasons.

A few very easy solutions which would make the game more enjoyable for everyone instead of the clumsy “you are not allowed to play”.

  • Forfeit
Getting stomped is no fun. Be it skill, lag or whatever… it just sucks. And what really sucks: Having an objective game where to superior team uses the whol game time to increase the K/D.
Simply let people vote on ending the game.

  • Vote on start
I know, right now there are almost no maps but all game types in one playlist. But having the chance to avoid your hated map/gametype increases the chances of you stying in the game.

  • Rejoin
Could prevent a loss because someone lagged out and rejoins. Or prevents a quit in the first place becuase the player doesn’t gain an advantage by getting a new match.

  • Show people where they stand.

IF you HAVE to go with bans, WARN people about what they get.
Yesterday me and my buddy quit 2 games because the first game was a 3on 4 with one afk on our team. Second was 2 on 4 after 2 minutes oddball with the winning team only going for kills. Result: got a ban without any warning. Beside the fact that you never should get punnished for leaving the game second, third or fourth, it’s just plain stupid to not tell people what will happen.
One can argue that you keep people on thetir toes because they don’t know if the will get banned but to be honest: players should be allowed to leave if they don’t enjoy the game. At least once in a while.

I know 343 won’t change their attidude towards quitting, they already made that clear with H5. But I just can’t understand why they didn’t try to install a system to get better results. As in H5, people will have multiple accounts and just switch as soon as the get banned.

What are your thoughts on this?

Rejoin is desperately needed

but I also think you should be strictly punished if, even after you leave & get the notification to rejoin, you have no intention to rejoin, to at the least make people reconsider taking the penalty and instead just rejoin

I said rejoin way too many times

I agree that the quit bans are old and outdated myself to having recieved some but heres the problem 343 has no wY to absolutley know the reasoning for quitting rather it be due to rl or the player feeling there team is incompetent and dosent meet there standards. Hherefore 343 assumes that yah need a timeout sit in the corner ect. Thing is quit bans dont work period no matter how many times dished out and the length extended they dont work ive said it once someone will always quit period regaurdless of reason therefore what should be done is remove the quit bans and when someone does quit have the match canceld with stats not getting changed and no loss or win being given

Well, not countnig the game as soon as someone quits leads to exploits as soon as possible. Beside, a team should get rewarded if it dominates the opponent.

Punishment never works as good as positive reinforcement. The benefit of staying in the game must be bigger or even existent. And right now it isn’t. Right now you have to play games you don’t like due to the lack of playlists. You HAVE to stick to 10 minutes game again a superior opponent.

Instead of banning people from playing all together, why not exclude them from ranking if the quit in ranked games? Why not exclude them from gaining XP for the Battlepass?

Why is it such a big deal if one quits out? The rest of the team can still try to win or quit, with no punishment, as well and hop right into the playlist. Losses in an uneven match can of course calculated way lighter.

Instead 343 come up with the most lazy solution you can think of. They didn’t even consider crashes or lag outs.

For me, it’s just another small piece that shows that 343 is utterly overstrained with developing an AAA game and Infinite feels like a 2 year project… The MP took them probably even less time.
