About people wanting the original Halo CE multiplayer...

Every time I go on either these forums or the Bungie.net forums, I see at least one thread complaining about Halo CEA not having the original multiplayer, and I’m sick of it. Everyone keeps saying how Reach doesn’t take skill, and Halo CE was the pinnacle of balance and need of skill. What you’re forgetting is that the entire sandbox being dominated by a weapon with a fairly high rate of fire that kills in 3 shots (which results in very fast kill times) does not require skill. If you think it does, you might just as well buy MW3 instead of CEA, seeing as every weapon has fast kill times. If you have problems with the Reach multiplayer but love the Halo CE multiplayer, why not stay away from Reach, buy Halo: PC and start playing online. And if you really want new, shiny maps, you can download Halo:Custom Edition, which has tons of extra, well thought out maps, as well as remakes from later instalments such as Halo 2 and 3.

What he said /\

What took skill were the long range engagements, something this game lacks. There was also no bullet magnetism and minimal auto-aim. The one thing I really miss were those elements, the melee system. Oh, and the fact that strafing did something. Other than that, yes I agree. Though, a lot of the people asking for original multiplayer mostly either want nostalgia (me) or they want the better gameplay elements of the game. The things that would raise the skill gap in a lot of current games.

I agree, fast kill times do not equal skill, and never will, hopefully the “competitive Halo community” can get over that aspect very soon.

Though I think mainly having Halo CE having it’s own original multiplayer would complete the package you’re buying, it’s almost like buying 75% of Halo CE, it’s not quite right, especially when it’s the furthest away Halo’s multiplayer.

I agree with Royy D, play Halo PC if you want that multiplayer, and CoD if you want crazy quick kills, but be grateful that they’re even making this remake, and also be grateful that they’re having it at the lower price of $40.
Who Mike Patton, it’s like buying a Halo: CE Campaign remake, that’s why it’s a lower price and doesn’t have a multiplayer, also because that multiplayer would mess up everything in Reach and I don’t think it would be as good as everyone seems to think it would be…
It’s Awesome that it comes with new Reach maps though. I’m Really excited for those! =)

You know the netcode for halo PC is terrible right. Telling people to play other games, just because they don’t like “default” Reach is laughable at best.

You know in the old CE’s MP Not everyone could perfect 3sk. It usually took at around 4 or 5 at best for some users.

You kids are using the same old (GO BACK TO HALO 3 LOOOOL) Argument every time, Get some originality.

I don’t think everyone wants to play with a keyboard either, Seeing most people played halo for the xbox in the first place. Plus How does this effect you? its in a different playlist for crying out loud.

I’m looking forward to a counter argument, Im waiting.

It should feel just like halo, unlike Reach in my opinion. (fact)

Reason why I don’t go back to halo 3, It’s because of its terrible netcode.

Just dont understand why he had to post all of that.

what he just did was add fuel to the fire, and I countered all his points very easily.

Oh yeah I Totally agree that Reach doesn’t feel like “Halo.” Reach just isn’t Halo enough for me, although I still play it and have most of the achievements. But in Halo 4 with Chief back it should be back to Spartan II’s and REAL Amazingful Halo. Lol

You are entirely correct. Fast kill times does not result in a greater skill gap. In fact, probabilistically speaking, if Reach’s DMR was a 3sk instead of a 5sk, given the same shooting skill in both circumstances a player would actually optimize the 3sk one more frequently than the 5sk one, resulting in a lower skill gap.

However, greater movement speed, greater movement acceleration, bullet travel time, lower reticle magnetism, and smaller hitboxes all do increase the skill gap, and Halo 1 goes nuts with all of those things.

It’s worth noting that people who absolutely hate Halo 1’s MP but are familiar with it often use the large skill gap as a reason for disliking it; they didn’t enjoy getting beaten 15-0 every single time they played against that one competitive friend of theirs.

> If you have problems with the Reach multiplayer but love the Halo CE multiplayer, why not stay away from Reach, buy Halo: PC and start playing online.

Because Halo PC:
1-Is a sloppy console port (For instance, it uses K&M but still has bullet magnetism).
2-Has terrible netcode.
3-Is a PC game and is therefore not really optimized for the awesome couch gameplay that is a major part of what Halo MP is.
4-Uses K&M as its default, as opposed to the controllers that Halo 1 was designed for.
Is it nonetheless a great game? Yep, but there’s a massive swath of the core Halo 1 MP experience that Halo PC doesn’t cover and tap into, and it has major issues that could use resolving.

You said it yourself, halo pc netcode is crapp, same with the one for xbox. And people like you arnt so much betetr when it comes to orginallity. Examples, Reach dosnt feel like halo, or Reach. Yeah, we do all have our preferences, every halo game has flaws, but if we stop focusing so much on them, and start to look at the good things, you and all the other reach haters wills see that itis a good game. I dont like evrything about reach, hate armor lock, not a big fan of bloom at times, but i play the game becaus, in the end Im a big halo fan and I enjoy the halo experience.
Good day to all of you Lol Xd

look man i’m not mad they didn’t include original CE multiplayer with anniversary, i’m just happy they are giving us something other than failReach multiplayer until halo 4 comes out. I loved halo 1 and being able to use the 3sk magnum over xbl with retro maps sounds like a lot of fun to me. making a couple more changes with the TU and having classic maps and settings will hold me over till halo 4 comes out. thank you 343 keep up the good work

You know calling the game failreach or Reach makes you just as patethic as the adapt people. Remember, whatever 343 does with the classic playlist, it is still reach, not halo 1,a nd it will never be that exact experience, its just like the chezz gametype, isnt completly like chezz

Halo CE multiplayer wasn’t be able to done without changing the core gameplay experience, Halo 1’s Xbox Multiplayer wasn’t designed to work with Xbox LIVE.

You should stop arguing about the skill when it’s as simple as this.

CE had best MP. Nuff said.

yes, and you guys are forgetting about the fact that Halo CE only had LAN, not WWW MP, just LAN, that’s where part of the epicness of Halo CE’s MP, giving Halo CEA it’s own built in MP isn’t going to bring back that epic game play.

lets hope they fix that problem in halo 4

Difference is, I am not making it my base argument.

I put enough of my fair share of time into standard reach.
