So I’ve been playing through the Spartans Ops missions and Episode 3 has me wondering on a few things. Most importantly, why have we not seen any appearance or mention of the Chief yet save for when a Spartan IV brings him up when describing Halsey briefly.
And why haven’t they had Chief and Halsey talk to each other, especially considering what happened with Cortana. I’d think that would be the first thing Chief would request upon returning to the UNSC.
Hell, where is Chief even? Any ideas?

Chief is on Earth. Halsey was in prison, held as a war criminal.
Also, as you can tell from the demeanor of the Spartans, people really seem to believe she is some monster in disguise. Even Palmer seemed a bit taken aback when they were on the lift.
I think the people responsible for Halsey’s incarceration wouldn’t think it is a good idea to let Chief near Halsey. They’d probably expect Chief to turn on them and start popping heads at her command. They clearly don’t trust Halsey and likely don’t trust Chief entirely as a result.
Because Spartan Ops tells the backstory of how the Infinity landed on Requiem. So during this time I believe Chief is still on the Forward Unto Dawn.

In the very first episode’s cinematic, Palmer says “a planet we discovered 6 months ago” (Requiem).
Actually, if you payed attention to the ending of the campaign, you learn that the very 1st opening cutscene of the game was really after the ending and that was John talking to Halsey, because Dr Halsey asked who he was because he wasn’t like the others, and no one had told her yet that Master Chief was back since she was in “jail” and all. So she had no way of knowing it was chief asking about his humanity after what Lasky told him at the end of the game. Chief was questioning her posing as an officer about his lack of humanity in a sense. Whether it was his lck of humanity that helped him succeed at everything he has done or if he really had the capacity to feel like a human being.

I hope he reunites with the other S-II’s including Osman and Naomi. I hope he reunites/talks with the Arbiter as well.

Realistically, he’s probably off doing Halo 5 stuff by the time Spartan Ops is taking place.

After the shield world is brought into normal space, Kilo-5 is sent in to arrest Catherine Halsey for the crimes she has committed (hijacking ships and kidnapping a Spartan). After her arrest, she is sent to the UNSC Infinity to work on upgrading the war ship. Afterwards, she will be sent to an ONI research facility for as long as the current Admiral Paragonsky successor, Captain Osman, sees fit.
i highly doubt that the person that was questioning her was john she would have know it was john and plus all john knew she was on earth i think she was on a prowler some where because she was being question on a station where the third ring( trying to wreck the story for some people) and she gone before john showed up there
