Was anyone else annoyed about the way forge maps were just put into Reach without the player being told? Every now and then when I play slayer or arena, some random forge map I have never heard of is put in the voting. Usually all the maps that are in the voting are weird maps and you are forced to pick one and play on it. When this is arena where there are multiple forge dedicated maps that are not on disc, it becomes a pain to find out where all the power weapons are and all the hot spots. So I think 343i should have a newly added forge maps in matchmaking added to your downloads or at least have us notified a terrible map was put in matchmaking so we could avoid the maps. Do you guys agree?
i do not agree, i think that adding the forge maps quietly keeps things fresh.
In Reach I preferred the original maps over any forge map. But looking at the way Halo 4’s forge mode has turned out, I think I’ll have one or two favourite forge maps this time round too, simply because they look like the same game, rather than some rough sketches of levels.
I look forward to H4 Forge, I tried making maps in Reach but often ran out of money before I could finish them properly, and I never liked them after I stripped them down.
I would like to see most if not all of the forge maps for halo 4 to be put in a community playlist of some kind. With maybe the best of the bunch rotated into other playlists.
I find Reach too oversaturated with forge maps for my liking.
Makes matches blend together with much blandness I find.

Agreed. People should be spending more time playing more of what maps they want, which in Reach was original maps. Too many times where an original map just wouldn’t pop up in the votes, even after a second round of voting.
To be perfectly honest, forged maps have no place in standard matchmaking.
Maybe throw them in to their own playlist. But, keep them out of our basic playlists. They’re just not very good maps, from my perspective. For Customs? Sure.
I believe forged maps should be in their own playlists, and nowhere else. Maybe throw them in to a playlist that lacks a large number of maps like Invasion for example in Halo Reach. Though, it was too little too late honestly…
I hate virtually every forged map in Reach, even the stock maps like Uncaged and… Forbid, Pinnacle. Asylum just gets old after a while, honestly.
I think what OP is saying is that he wants to know beforehand which maps might turn up so he can explore them and better be prepared when he actually competes on them.
I don’t see anything wrong with it, and I certainly would have liked to have a look at Mt. Lam Lam so I could avoid it like the plague.
I would like a ‘bulletin’ esque thing explaining what maps they’re adding into the rotation. A walkthrough would be nice of the maps before they appear in rotation. That way we know the type of map before we vote for it. And instead of like SOOOO many maps being put into rotation, I think only a select few should be. So to avoid the Reach grey-dullness effect.
And then when a new playlist focused on community made maps comes in, a detailed bulletin explains each map in said playlist.
