Before I begin, I’ll preface my post by saying that this is easily my second favorite Halo game (after 3, which is mostly due to nostalgia, I will admit.) So no, this is not yet another whining post.
If there was one thing I would whine about in Halo 5, however, I think it’s the same thing most of you would whine about. That of course is aim acceleration.
BUT OTHER THAN THAT, customization. Specifically, I want to know if anyone could explain to me why emblem customization basically doesn’t exist in Halo 5? I really don’t understand what made 343 decide to limit this system so drastically, when it has been around for quite a while and doesn’t seem too difficult to implement. If someone actually knows the logic behind this, put my mind at ease and explain it to me.
I’m assuming it’s got the same reason as the restricted armor customization: the need to render every unique combo. It stinks; at least having more control of the colors would’ve been nice.
I really don’t understand the lack of customization for your emblem. The color customization is also pretty odd. If I want a certain background, primary, and secondary color I basically have to scroll through all combinations until I find it, not very intuitive.
It’s especially jarring to have the emblem system so restricted after the Master Chief Collection let you choose from nearly every single emblem ever found in the Halo series. It’s also extremely frustrating to have the emblems effectively unlocked randomly. Same goes for armor customization. Not that Halo 4 did it much better; have a favourite armor piece or emblem, but can only unlock it by playing a gametype you hate? Tough luck. Personally I think Halo: Reach did customization right. Choose the customization you want, save up your credits, and work towards it every time you play.
Emblem customization is terrible, almost non-existent.
I read a while ago on these forums, that one reason the customization is gone is because 343 will no longer have to patrol people using innappropriate emblems. You know, all those children that used to make phallic emblems.

I don’t believe that. The system Bungie created of choosing and combining preset shapes and images made this difficult. All the inappropriate emblems had to be explained to me before I could discern what they were meant to portray.
