I highly doubt that. But either way, you’ll have to wait til Halo 6 to see how this pans out.

It’s a possibility, we’ll need to wait a few years though.
I hate it it’s stupid story telling and it feels so coincidental and considering the last 3 major Halo games revolved around saving her (Halo 3, saving her from gravemind. Reach getting her to John on the Pillar. 4, saving her from rampancy) it feels cheap like they were just grasping at straws.
I don’t want to be too mean, but can this generation (or anyone using text as communication) please find a -Yoink!- way to type like a normal Human? “ur” and “u” are not words.
As for the point of the post, it’s an interesting theory, especially if your are a Cortana fan. But It’s cool to see 343 explore the possibility of a Rampant AI gaining a lot of power and turning “evil.”
Didn’t something happen with the Didact? Anyway I am surprised he turned into Darth Maul (killed in the first new episode) and think he might make a comeback.
What better way than through Cortana? He could be messing with her mind or posing as her to torture the chief. Or perhaps his personality just merged with her. Either way its not satisfying that Cortana became evil “just because.” It is also not satisfying how fragmented the story is so far. There has to be a bigger connection with Halo 4 and with the rest of the series. They should get the Halo rings back into play somehow, after all its still called Halo.

Roland was part of the Mock trial in Saints Testimony by Frank O’Connor with respect to a “Smart AI”'s judicial appeal of it’s mandatory death sentence prior to rampancy onset. I think it gives unique insight into what Warden Eternal and Cortana are spouting off about. Another relevant reference is the Story of Cortana’s battle with the Gravemind in Halo Evolutions.
The wouldn’t any of her other rampant personalities be still doing things as well? Wouldn’t we have seen multiple Cortana’s within the Domain as they fought for supremacy or John’s allegiance?
Seriously I LOVE Cortana I find this emotionally jarring that 343 could attempt to make her evil.
They dont even explain it!!
Do they expect us to think the Domain has turned her into a terror? That never happened to any of the other AI’s the forunners built and had access the domain.
The only AI that ever turned was Mendicant Bias, But he was turned after the FLOOD (Gravemind aka Primordian aka Precursor) infected the domain and turned him against the forerunners.
So my theory is that she is being manipulated by someone, maybe mendicant bias or the Precursors…?

I actually hoped that she is dead full stop. Bringing her back made the entire plot of Halo 4 pointless. I thought 343i would have enough guts to stick to their decision but looks like the buckled under the pressure and used space magic to bring her back.
Remember that she split off hundreds of her rampant personality spikes on Mantle’s Approach. She explains that when it went into emergency slip-space jump upon the Havok detonation, she came into contact with the Domain. So, in essence, the “main” Cortana is dead. The Halo 5 Cortana is a fragment, and a warped one at that. Not to mention the Domain being Precursor, I’m sure it is manipulating her to some degree.
