So I got the email from Microsoft a couple days ago, downloaded my Games on Demand copy of Reach and played for a while. Everything was working great; I could search matchmaking with a party and I can even load campaign missions now.
But I tried playing again last night and every time I try searching matchmaking in a party of 2 or more, it’ll back out after a few seconds and say the searching was aborted due to a networking failure.
Then I tried deleting my map packs because I thought it was just my one friend (the friend whose account I downloaded the maps from) that I couldn’t search with. Nope, I tried searching with a few other people and the same thing happened.
Has anyone else had this problem? I’m a little annoyed because I had to search alone to get the small arms challenge and ended up losing my 88 game win streak due to the typical randoms on my team.
Are you playing off of a retail disc or the download version of the game off of games on demand?
The day the title update came out, I couldn’t join matchmaking literally at all. I found it was because i was playing the games on demand version, and the title update had only been released for the retail disc version of the game (don’t get me started).
Today, “matchmaking aborted due to networking issues” but my friends, the same ones with retail discs who didn’t have an issue with the title update, can play multiplayer with no problems. They just can’t play with me. And I can’t play at all.
SO - if you have the games on demand version I would suspect that it has SOMETHING to do with the title update and something somewhere is being fixed but hasn’t been done so for your/my version of the game, which is of course horse crap. If that’s not the case, I don’t know what to tell you other than I’m having issues too and I’m sorry you lost your streak because of randoms.
Hope it all gets resolved soon, I’m personally tired of all the problems that have come up in the last 5 days especially considering the fact that the title update hasn’t technically taken effect yet it terms of noticeable differences to actual gameplay. Other than eliminating it as a possibility, of course.

My Reach copy is the retail disk version I’ve owned since release and I was having this exact same problem on the 20th of last week.
I haven’t had it since though and was hoping this whole mess was cleaned up.
