Able To Take Cover And Blind Fire

No, most definitely not. Such mechanics would not work well in a Halo game, and would completely ruin the gameplay. Let Gears of War and other third-person shooters that use these mechanics keep them to themselves. Halo should focus on going back to its roots and becoming more like Halo, not other games on the market.

  1. As a friendly reminder. You may want to prevent yourself from posting more threads for awhile. People who make several in one day are usually accused of spamming. Next idea you have, just post it in one of your older threads.

  2. No. This is the second thread you’ve asked about Gearsifying the core Halo mechanics. No. Just no. Halo doesn’t need cover fire or meat shields. Or multiple swords. Gears of War is Gears of War and Halo is Halo.

No. It slows down fire fights. What we need is more original material. So sprint, perks and flinch can go, the rest must be fixed.

It would be great in Campaign, however there’s a certain crowd who’d complain…

It would not be necessary or useful. Do you want to stealthily move around and take cover behind objects? Just crouch.

A certain crowd? What’s that even supposed to mean?

And I disagree. Even in campaign, it wouldn’t be all that great. It still wouldn’t feel like Halo, and to those of us who buy the game for the campaign, we want a real Halo campaign.

A thousand time no. There is a game for that. It is called Gears of War.

None of these things are intrinsically bad, but why is there this insistence on completely rewriting Halo’s game play? I wouldn’t insist on Gears of War having Halo style grenades or fps only view. Why would I want the cover system in Halo when I don’t play Gears of War specifically because of the cover system?

No,

It sounds like a great idea, but wouldn’t suit Halo.

If the controller had another 100 buttons, then it could work. But to add this, would be to remove something else.

This would be great for Campaign but would slow the Multi-Player pace.

4% in favor so far. Guess that answers that. My faith in the fan base is strengthened.

You also forgot armor abilities

It works in 3rd person shooters, because we can pan the camera angle to see.
In Halo, when we see out our front only, it would not work.

Halo needs less of other game influences and needs to make its own game innovations

Halo is not a third person shooter.

Let’s have a working third-person custom gametype first.

Go play red orchestra 2

> 4% in favor so far. Guess that answers that. My faith in the fan base is strengthened.

That’s still 4%. 4%. I have lost some now.

OT: Hell no. Halo is not a 3rd person shooter. Leave this stuff for Gears.

Oh, hell to the naw.

Why GOW? Why not like Far Cry?

> It would be great in Campaign, however there’s a certain crowd who’d complain…

You say that like it’s a bad thing. That crowd you’re referring to are the people who appreciate Halo for what it is and don’t see it necessary to implement such game changing features.
