Ability To Climb, Replaces Jet pack, Kinda

For example, when master chief in the campaign was hijacking that covenant ship, he used his knife and stabbed the ship, if his knife can go threw a Covenant vehicle then climbing should work in multiplayer.
This would be good to get to sniping spots, up to places and custom games, like duck hunt or climbing maps.

Jump pads can do the same thing, and they wouldn’t require any changing to the game engine. Also, Super Jumps.

I feel I should be able to climb simple ledges and heights like a few feet. But for higher ledges that could be used as an armor ability. Really like the idea of it!

We’re Spartans, of course we should be able to climb, IMO.

I’m up for this; I don’t see how climbing and vaulting will break gameplay. However, some classic Halo zealots will argue against it anyway. I’d also like the grav lift equipment to return.

Climbing would be cool, maybe make it a little limited just so you can’t scale a wall bottom to top, maybe make it so you can wall jump, grip ledges and vault

Even if it might not break gameplay the point is that it isn’t really adding anything.

If this is meant to replace Jetpack then are we suddenly forgetting that before Jetpack we relied on trick jumps, super jumps, small ledges, and other things to get to higher ground or maneuver quickly? Not to mention that with the addition of Trait Zones forgers have created Jump Pads that perform this very same purpose of moving vertically quickly. The only time climbing was involved in Halo multiplayer was a few maps back in Halo CE that had ladders, which were replaced by the previous things as they flowed smoother. While I wouldn’t be opposed to bringing in Forgeable ladders, they shouldn’t be a main part of design.

I most certainly do not approve of the idea of this being an AA either. As all that would do is lessen the importance of jumps and learning tricks to move around maps.

Why not utilise the movement mechanics already in the game?

We have Spring jumps, concussion jumps and grenade jumps at our desposal, two of which (concussion rifle and grenade jumps) have reprecussions to their application which balances them out.

Ledge grappling/grabbing would overule all three of those movement options, similar to what jetpack already did.

I like the idea in other games but it doesn’t add anything to this one. I mean really what’s faster, jumping over and clearing a wall, or jumping pressing a button and watching an animation. It’s also another thing maps would have to be dumbed down for. It looks cool in titanfall but it serves no purpose in halo.

One more thing, that ridiculous realism argument needs to to stop. Games should put gameplay before realism. Sprint is realistic and it hinders the game significantly.
