Abilities/ armor abilities yay or nay

As a big fan of halo, ive witnessed the series rise, even though i started my journey as a halo fan with 3 back before halo 4. i have done a lot of hard playing to have at least some kind of intelligence when it comes to this series. Now obviously, halo is looking to do some things with armor abilities as witnessed in halo 4 and reach. My questions for any of you are, What are you opinions of this matter? do you agree with this direction? what armor abilities are you looking forward to in halo 5? Should they just stop with the abilities and go back to what halo was? should they make more abilities and move forward in a similar direction that cod is going? or should halo just have armor abilities that are actually significant and/or vital to the campaign adding more imperative use for them and helping the player better under stand the benefits and the disabilities of each ability?

Yay. That is, I like what they’re currently doing with Spartan Abilities. Slide could stand to be removed, though.

I like it exactly how they are. Everyone has access to it, the slide is fine to me, not like it’s really that useful aside from shotgun anyway.

i agree with you, especially since the shotgun isnt a loadout peice, rather a field thing, and if your one of the 2 people who get and you happen to have slide well then there ya go.

I prefer the spartan abilities over the armor abilities. Its something that we all have access to at the same time creating an even playing field.

i like abilities and halo probly wil lose alot of ppl if they take abilities out personly i have realy good memories to abilities there just a fun mix i rember me and my brother where so hyped about halo 4 becease of it . Halo needs to make new Features else some ppl wil get bored of the same cup of tea thats just my view on it . i like halo with our without abilities :stuck_out_tongue: Greetings Swampeye

I can’t help but feel halo is suffering from an identity crisis

armor abilities =/= spartan abilities. I like the direction the that 343i is moving in with 5 because it feels modern but keeps the roots of equal starts.

I think they should have kept Reach/4 Armor Abilities, but re-work them to function like Equipment from Halo 3. That way you still have the core gameplay front-and-center but with a balanced new layer. Spawning with them in standard modes was iffy, but they were great for Customs.

Spartan Abilities are so-so to me, and we’re just going to have to see if 343 goes all-in with them or if they add Classic playlists where the core is preserved.

I like how everyone has the same abilities.

But I would like to see acquirable armor abilities in Forge or custom games to make up some creative game types.

yes that would be cool. perhaps even have them in certain maps, like the shotgun for example, have exclusive abilities for exclusive maps, and less weapons and way less grenades ordinances. it may even things up a bit more.

I personally like armor abilities better. In fact I never really hated any of them aside from Armor Lock…

Nay

No armor abilities and no Spartan abilities.

I like them all. Sprint, Thrusters and mantle are very instinctive and feel “appropriate”. When you go back to playing them game without them you get the distinct feeling that something is missing. Ground pound, slide, and bash are novelties. They feel cool, look cool, and not prone to abuse or trolling. I don’t find these abilities to be game breaking or frustrating like Armor Lock or Jet Packs. I wouldn’t mind having evade but it’s basically similar to thrusters.

The way you are framing this is very skewed. You are using a lot of loaded language and you are assuming people are on the same page as you without clarifying what you mean by phrases like, “go back to what Halo was,” or “a similar direction that cod is going.”
I am not really sure Spartan Abilities (H5 Arena) change the Halo formula as much as some might assert they do. Armor Abilities (H4 & maybe non-arena H5, not sure on this) most definitely do but that is a different issue imo and should be presented as such in order to give people a fair chance at discussion. H5 Arena has even starts, that much at least is a key part of the Halo experience. Spartan Abilities do nothing to change that but rather augment movement mechanics evenly for all across the board.

Back in the day, I was looking forward to Armor abilities. All of them, but in the one suit XD
All of them. In one suit! Captain America wearing some kind of Iron Man suit. Or…or…INSPECTOR GADGET!!!
“Go go gadget…Hardlight shield. Jetpack! Hologram! Sentry Drone! Regen field!” Lol
But Halo 5 looks great. Spartan Abilities are gold!

These posts need to stop…nothing is going to change.

BTW: I LOVED the movement in BLOPS-3…but nothing else.

Spartan abilities are great. Armor abilities should be like equipment in Halo 3. they should have a place to be picked up. In Halo 4 i loved the jet pack, but it was kinda cheap when others didn’t have them. I believe that armor abilities will be reqs in warzone so i’m happy.
