So yes, as you can tell I just got done reading Glasslands. I’m pissed it ended on a damn cliffhanger but I’m going to read The Thursday War.
I’ve been thinking about the Storm Covenant and the group Servants of Abiding Truth in Glasslands led by Telcam. Telcam opposes the Arbiter for forming an alliance with humans and still believes apparently in the prophets Great Journey if I’m interpeting this correctly. We know that the Elites are against us in Halo 4 and for one, Elites aren’t playable in matchmaking or custom games and the Arbiter won’t be present because he may be fighting still on Sanghelios with what faction of this group of Covenant is there.
I’m just speculating that Jul may be heading this factions movements on Reqiuem while Telcam is fighting the Arbiter on Sangelios. Jul makes a statement that he is galvanizing(convincing if I’m correct) the clans and keeps on Sanghelios to wipe humans from existance. Maybe Jul has taken on the duty of forming this Storm Covenant and leading it to Reqiuem to uncover Forerunner Artifacts. This is just speculation though but its a theory I have on who may or may not be leading this faction.
Should put a spoiler warning in there but great post. I really like your theory. Mine isn’t much different. I just forgot about Jul’Mdama. A whole new range of possibilities just went through my head. Would be pretty cool if you just hit the nail on the head.

Glasslands was released sometime before we even heard about Halo 4. While I know a lot of people have read it, I doubt theres anyone thats a lore freak who hasn’t.

Just saying theres probably a decent amount of people who haven’t read it. I know the lore freaks like you and me have read it. It would be heresy, no sacrilege for us not to read it.

I agree!! I read it already but it’s something I hated hated stumbling upon when I hadn’t finished the book yet.

Yep it was more Political this time around, it was still good though. It was a good way of getting up to speed on everything in the present time. This next book will be more military based now that the introduction has been given.

Thats what I liked about the book. It didn’t sugarcoat anything. And it looked at everything in a very logical way. It didn’t make Halsey out as a hero for starting the Spartan program after the orion project. The Arbiter wasn’t held aloft by praisers and fans as the great savior who opened their eyes to the truth. Some didn’t care or just flat out disagreed. And all of the details with the remaining Spartans and the Oni Black ops group really pulled it together for me.

I was also pissed that Glasslands ends the way it does. Great book though, though I don’t see Halsey as immoral as they all seem to make her. She, in a way, saved humanity.
But anyways, I would love to see Abiding Truth and Jul in Halo 4

It was her actions before reaching Onyx that really caught ONI’s eye. “Kidnapping” a Spartan and Fleeing to Onyx. But also the action’s and processes she took in the selection and upbringing of her Spartans.

Am I the only guy who enjoys cliffhangers? I loved Halo 3’s legendary ending because I thought “How can they not continue this?” Five years later we’re getting Halo 4. Cliffhangers give you a place that provides a decent ending while allowing for an easy continuation.
Like your theory. Its a shame that Sangheili like Telcam and Jul are so blind to see the Prophets lied to every member in the Covenant. Not just Sangheili, everyone. They should get over their old religion that they were lied to about I know holding religion you’ve had for such a long time and generations in fact that lasted thousands of years. Being lied to however crosses the line. Its time for them to move on. Believe in something else or tweak the religion of the Covenant a little to make it the real truth not a lie.

Glasslands came out in October of 2011, we learned about Halo 4 in July 2011 at E3.
Can somebody explain to me (and others) why there is a spoiler warning in the title and then a tag in the post? The title gives more than enough for those who haven’t read the book to stay away not to mention it was released almost a year ago. IF they haven’t read it by now they aren’t going to read it.

I just got the book assuming that story would have been told and done with. I can enjoy a cliffhanger but the point the Osman story was not wrapped up in the slightest.
I am at chapter 4 re-reading the book not sure what my best part in the book is but seems Jul’s intentions is to get rid of Thel for good. I think his plans though will backfire eventually. So far the only characters I like in the book is Halsey and Thel everyone else is unimportant.
Glasslands brings some confusion to the whole Covenant organization. We had the one Covenant. Then it split into the Separatists and Loyalists. Fair enough. Now we have the Servants of Abiding Truth who appear to be mostly Elites with a few Brute slaves and servants who still regard the Forerunners as holy. But we know eventually the Elites will hunt down the Loyalists, Brutes and Prophets included. Yet we now have the Storm Covenant who still appear to be anti-Brute but still believe the Prophet’s ideology.
