If there is something Halo Reach and 4 have taught me, it is that AAs can be very useful without completely changing the dynamic principles of a fight without a player being dependent on their use. While some exceptions can be made (I’m looking at you Armor Lock), I can’t help but feel like 343i can take it a few steps further. So, as a community member and the community as a whole, its only natural for us to want to contribute concepts to them so that they could apply and use what we give them. While I’m not going to toot my own horn and claim that my ideas are superior, I would at least hope the company would look at this thread and consider the possibilities. Hopefully you might feel the same, so if you have an idea, feel free to post it.
That said, there are some guidelines to follow before you put it on this thread, which will be listed below:
- No offensive based AAs.
- No replicated AAs based on already existing ones.
- Ideas must be useful, but not cause a player to be dependent upon it over others.
Skeleton for AAs
Name:
Type:
Ability:
Author’s Note:
Name: Trip Laser
Type: Utility
Ability: Launches a small mechanical device to a solid surface that emits a small laser that is unseen by the player’s eye, except for the person who launched it. The device is indestructible until an enemy passes by the trip laser. As it is passed, the device explodes, sending an indicator light to the owner, pointing out the whereabouts of an enemy’s location.
Author’s Note:
Call it a hunch, but the idea of knowing where your enemies are is a tool more valuable than any weapon. Whether you go solo or in a team, I can find this kind of AA invaluable to any given situation and in any gametype.
Name: Nanobot
Type: Defensive
Ability:
Activates like the Regeneration Field or the Auto sentry, but functions differently. When deployed, a small flotilla of nano drones to repair a nearby damaged vehicle from its previous damage level.
Author’s Note:
Its strange, considering how since Halo 2 when vehicles became a destructible construct, we have had no means of repairing a vehicle mid battle. This is the answer to that. I wanted to have the ability to repair a vehicle, but not completely and not in quick succession.
