Alright, so, everyone on here knows that armor abilities weren’t really the most popular idea that Bungie ever implemented. A lot of players thought that certain armor abilities were overpowered and required little skill to use effectively. I disagree with this notion, but understand how so many people could think that. Now, AA’s older, more popular sibling was equipment, a single-use item that you would activate, place into the floor, and have it do whatever it was you wanted it to do. I did not like this system very much, mostly because it bothered me that you couldn’t tell what the other player was carrying. So, I propose a solution to this conflict: Utilities.
In my mind, utilities are essentially forerunner tools. They would have energy cells, which enable the player to use their utility multiple times, but lose energy and, subsequently, effectiveness as their power drains. In this sense, they are neither infinite nor are they unforgiving, meaning that they are completely balanced. The only thing is, you would carry them like weapons, and as such they would take up a weapon slot, meaning you cannot strike out offensively while they are in use, save for melee strikes. Your thoughts?
