A40 M80 (Stereo) vs A40/50 MIXAMPPRO (Surround)

I purchased the A40 w/ MIXAMPPRO headset yesterday. As far as sound goes I have to say it’s pretty impressive. Prior to these I had been using the official Microsoft Stereo headset so as you can imagine it was a major upgrade in audio performance. These can get LOUD, which was a selling point, but I found that much over the middle adjustment was actually too loud. Maybe a cm over the middle was where I finally felt comfortable. I got a headache from it being too loud yesterday. Regardless, I’m pleased w/ the audio from these. When I first turned them on I played Halo 4 Spartan Ops, and noticed, “depth” if you will. I could hear what I interpreted to be shallow noises, while at the same time I could hear noises that would sound far away. That was really cool.

However, the major draw back for me is having to drag cords across the floor all the way to my couch. Fortunately, I’m able to do it w/ out having to move the X1, or my couch, however it’s still kind of annoying. What has me considering returning these to BestBuy is the fact that the cord from the headset to the mixamp pro is constantly getting in my way. I’m not sure there is a way around this for me, nor am I asking for suggestions are where to sit it, because it just sucks. At least w/ the Microsoft Stereo headset the cord really never bothered me being hooked up to the controller, but this one get’s under my arm, or somewhere I don’t want it. The M80 is essentially the better setup for me, and honestly I like the colors on the GEN 2 A40’s better than the gray / white ones I have.

ULTIMATELY, my question for any of you who have used Astro headsets, and hopefully both the M80’s, and Mixamppro, is do you think I’ll miss the sound from the mixamppro if, or when I trade these for the M80 headset? I’m not a pro gamer, I play slayer, etc sometimes, but I’m not necessarily looking for the headset to give me an, “Advantage” over other players, I’m looking for the headset to make Halo, and other games more enjoyable in terms of the music, gun sounds, and immersion. Is there still a sense of depth, as mentioned above, w/ the stereo A40 setup? Are they still fairly loud w/ good bass?

Thanks

I’m wondering this as well…
