That isn’t a buggy UI, they have actually implemented the AR in the Halo 2: Anniversary Multiplayer.
The Assault Rifle is one of the additions to Halo 2 Anniversary, alongside the Silenced SMG, Mongoose, Gungoose, and several gametypes.
Before you freak out about it, it is separate from the original multiplayer.

Silenced SMG. Yuuuussssss.
Though the AR is still overall better IMO

I was always peeved that the AR wasn’t in h2. Having it again is awesome, though I’m stool going to miss it for campaign.
I’m still on the fence about the AR in H2A MP,
I’ll adjust but I don’t really have an opinion about it at this time.

Haha, beautifully preemptive. Thank you.
Aside from grenade indicators and hit markers, H2A MP is looking perfect.
Weapon sets are concerning, but Frankie says they’re not final and they won’t be in all modes.
I hope they’re in none of the vanilla playlists.

Same. I hated how Halo 2 lacked the AR, as it’s just a highly iconic weapon for the Master Chief and the Halo series. It will be good to have it in Halo 2: Anniversary’s multiplayer.
The Assault Rifle will be in the Remastered H2 multiplayer, but, unfortunately, still not in Campaign.
From what little footage I saw, the AR seems pretty powerful in H2A.
