A way to stop farming

I was looking at a post about new req items, and I came across an ODST drop pod req. The more I thought about it, the more I realized how good it would be to combat farming. You would be able to essentially drop anywhere on the map. This would help people leave their home base and have the ability to capture others.

I can easily see this being abused, so to prevent that, I came up with 2 ideas to balance it:

  1. Can only be used once per match
  2. Can only be used when all 3 bases are captured

Do you guys think that an ODST drop pod req would stop farming?

People were talking about that in my farming thread last week. I said it might break the functionality of Warzone if you could do that. Maybe only once per match and only if the bases are capped.

Yah that’s what I suggested to balance it.

How would this stop farming though? At best it’s a brief intermission mid match from it.

So you what? Back cap a base when they aren’t looking? All they need to do is recapture it and then you’re back to being farmed again.

That’s why in y thread I talked about a shield the farmers can’t get passed so then they can’t kill you.

Interesting idea. If it’s limited to use only when all bases are capt, I don’t see it being abused. Just put a cooldown on it or restraints on its deployability.

Would you want that though? Most people want to be able to play, not be forced into a “safe place” where they risk being booted for idling. Shield doors aren’t fool proof, I’ve seen videos of how to jump through them with vehicles.

Yah I think it’d need a cool down.

Yes - a cool down would be the way to go here.
OT: Have yet to encounter proper farming.

I suggested using a teleporter which would probably be easier since it’s already in the game. None of these suggestions would stop farming though. I think the real solution is to get a better matching system and base design.

As interesting as all these different ideas sound i think we just have to leave to 343 on whether they are going to do anything like pitting firetams against each other or players farming would stop i know cause im usually playing with a full fireteam…and sometimes the opponents are not really “gud”. As farming is a way to stat pad its not necessarily fun. A fun and intense match i had during turbo yest. was an example.-can take a look at my history the last match at darkstar turbo. 2 fire teams against each other. Now thats a good matchup. Not a 12man team against 12 man randoms

It is happening less often now, but it also makes a big difference that you have only played 67 Warzone matches. That probably doesn’t qualify as a comprehensive sample.

If more
home bases were like on raid on apex that would help a lot. But warzone needs a hidden rank system like BTB

the only way to “stop” farming, is better map design. have you not played arc? not being able to get to your nearest armory is awful map design, not to mention if you take the long flank route, you will be sniped because of garage. it has gotten to the point where if my team gets triple capped i honestly just give up and wait it out. #wenotbefarmed

Farming cannot be fixed. The plethora of solutions I have come across on the forums have been absurd. I enjoy when I am getting farmed, it gives me a challenge and a goal to try my hardest against a full team of 12 and really show my full potential. Farming is not sportsmanlike IMO, but reporting teams upon teams for the way that they want to play, now that is also considered unsportsmanlike. This is just something I wanted to share as the amount of farming posts I’ve come across have really shown me how much this ‘community’ complains.

From what I have seen, most of the community would disagree with you.

As I have said many times before, if you and your team are that much better than me, that is totally understandable. Everybody wants to win, but if a superior opponent steamrolls my squad I simply shrug it off and move on. GG.

On the other hand, occasionally that same team with superior talent triple-caps our squad, pins us in the base, and actually has multiple Spartans inside our core room without taking a single shot at the core itself! And no, this isn’t necessarily just until the 10-minute mark. All of this to pad their K/D statistics and progress towards earning a set of armor that 99% of the community will never recognize when they finally see it. That is the epitome of “Unsporting behavior,” and should be reported accordingly.

There is absolutely nothing unsportsmanlike about reporting people who are obviously behaving inappropriately on Xbox Live… that is why the system exists in the first place!

neither have i encountered proper farming. maybe once or twice by ispiteful and whiskey but now they are done it does not happen that often. if its a 15minute match it isnt farming yknow thats just called losing or getting rekt hahaha

I don’t think once per match, but maybe like a cool down of a few minutes?

I’ve completed over 2200 matches, mostly solo, and have yet to encounter proper farming. Is that comprehensive enough?

There are multiple things that can easily be done to combat farming. Its infuriating that nothing is be done or even talked about being done.

  1. be able to spawn in the shielded vehicle area if all three bases are capped.
  2. Simply QUIT MATCHING TEAMS OF 6 OR MORE WITH RANDOMS.
  3. Do a better job of balancing teams in matchmaking even when its mostly randoms on both teams. I was in a match where it was just 4 Onyx players and the rest were low tier platinums or golds or silvers against 6, SIX Onyx players, one Champion level player and the rest were diamonds with a couple of platinums. I was on the lower ranked team. Needless to say we got destroyed.
  4. Be able to specifically pick any place on the map to spawn. Here lately, Most of the matches I have been in one of the teams will cap all 3 bases early on. When I have see what was going to happen. I preemptively find a nice quiet corner and crouch until game over.
  5. Make the core deteriorate on its own after 2 minutes of exposure.
  6. When there becomes a point spread of 500 points. End the game. No team will make up that kind of spread, especially when all 3 bases are capped preventing JIP.
  7. Create a Warzone gametype for randoms only.

Its not rocket science. Farming can be easily combated. But apparently, 343 doesn’t care at this point.
