A way to keep the SMG in without...

…Dual Weilding.

I understand most of you believe that there is no point in not so powerfull weapons like the SMG and Plasma Rifle in halo 4.
But due to da lack of power and range I thought that it suits secondary weapons like the Plasma Pistol and the Pistol.
I also think it will keep people using secondarys due to the fact you can have two primarys.
And obviosly they will be down graded.

They would work like this or something…

Pistol

Power: 6-10

Range: 5-10

SMG

Power: 7-10
Range: 4-10

_EDIT:_Silenced SMG for the stealth Specialization maybe?

What do you think?

They should’ve just buffed the Plasma Rifle and SMG instead of adding the repeater.

Halo 3:ODST SMG for a primary?

add the scope from ODST and I think it would qualify as a more powerful secondary weapon.

they are typically dual wielding guns and will not be seen in halo 4 because there will not be dual wielding. but 343 might have surprises up there sleeves that they wont be giving away

I’ve said this before but I think a nice way to sort of bring it back is introduce a secondary called the Machine Pistol that acts like an SMG with shorter range so it will beat other secondaries at very short ranges but will not place too many hits at medium ranges.

I kind of want the SMG back. The ODST variant would do nicely.

They needed the extra button so the game could have AAs…

makes me feel sick…

I think that the AAs will be fun, and a great way to suit your playstyle. I will, however, be playing a bit of vanilla though.

Well that technically wasn’t the only reason they removed dual wielding (if that’s what you mean). It’s just that it would have changed up all of their work with loadouts and basically would have added “weapon accessories” like Call of Duty, which would just further complicate the game.

Honestly, dual wielding wasn’t that great. Sure, it was fun, but it’s almost impossible to balance correctly. Either both weapons together were too good, or had their strength lowered to balance things out, making it a rather useless feature.

I didn’t miss dual wielding in Reach, and I don’t think I will in Halo 4 either.

As for the SMG, it would have been great to see it return in Halo 4 as a secondary weapon, or perhaps as a primary in the form we see it in ODST.

That’s not why at all. In Halo 2 dual wielding was assigned to “Y”. they could’ve done that in Reach. Its just better for balance to leave it out.

your the only one i seen that typed “Call of Duty” instead of just putting in “CoD”
I respect that.

Oh! and i see what you mean by the way, well said. =D

I still feel sick about the AAs though… x_x

The SAW will make a worthy successor to the SMG
