A way to be immune to Halo's effect?

This picture has held my interest for a while now. The planet, which can be seen in the upper right corner, is the same one that appears on the old main menu. I believe that these are the same locations, in fact, I believe you can see the surface of the Halo through the window in the background of the first picture.

Not long after this picture surfaced I hypothesized that the Halo would be fired, but at a lower setting as to only kill the Prometheans, as they were composed and theoretically more susceptible to Halo’s effect. But, taking into account it’s original purpose, it doesn’t make much sense for Halo to have a less powerful setting. Perhaps it was fired, at full effect, but somehow Chief had acquired a “cure” essentially, that allowed him to survive.

Perhaps this is how the Librarian survived, assuming she did. She might not have been sure it would work, or had just recently developed it while on Earth, so she never told anyone about it.

If I recall correctly, the forerunners built “bunkers” of sorts to shield them from the effects but never made it to them…I think Onyx was one of them. I don’t think Halo’s pulse can be adjusted.

I’m referring to more of something that can be used on a personal level, not shield worlds. I’m assuming by “adjusted” you mean the strength, and I agree. We do know, however, that Halo’s pulse can be concentrated on a specific area without firing the remaining rings.

The only known ways to survive the Halo array’s effect are:

  1. Be outside the blast radius.
  2. Utilize a shield world.
  3. Have the Composer turn you into an Ancilla/Monitor/other non-organic life form.
  4. Being processed and cataloged by the Librarian/Lifeworkers.

Aside from those options there is no known way to survive the destruction of the Array.

Apparently, you can live by being on the firing Halo. Chakas, Riser, and the other humans on Installation 07 survived one or more firings with no ill effects.

Did this happen in Primordium? My memory is not that clear.

Yes it was. While it never directly says it, it can be understood that that is the case since Vinnevra gives her first-hand account of the ring firing as well as the ring going through portals.

The only way I know of to dodge a Halo pulse is via some kind of slipspace device that places you in a different dimension of space. That’s how the Didact’s shield worlds worked.

Back on Topic: The view through the window looks more like floating asteroids than a planet. It looks like there is the blackness of space between the two identifiable rocks.

Go through slipspace at the right time?

Oh right, Mendicant Bias test fired Halo 07 against the precursor structure.
But still unclear if the array can be tuned to target specific thing or on direction.

Spark mentions targeting in one of the CEA terminal videos.

The Master Builder test-fired Halo on a low power setting at Charum Hakkor, so the effect can be dialed back from the max radius of 25,000 light-years. Interestingly enough, Guilty Spark did comment in one of the CEA terminals that he could tune the Halo to strike almost any target within its radius. What exactly that may mean I can’t say.

I would guess that those that survived the Halo firing while still on the ring was a result of it going into that stasis mode that I7 employed to survive a near collision with a planet as described in Primordium. Again, I can only guess at that one.
