In red dead redemption, while you were waiting for players to be found it loaded you into this confined area where you could mess around.
I think halo would benefit from this. Imagine this, instead of waiting in a lobby you are loaded onto the UNSC Infinty. Inside you could explore the area. You go into this room and look out the windows and see people playing breakout from below (your just spectating). There you could view the score from a screen nearby and even look at the current games states. There could be other areas that are fun to he in aswell.
The cool thing about this is that if you don’t feel like playing matchmaking you could just stay on board the Infinty while players drop in and out waiting for a game. This would come in handy later in H5’s life, 3 years from now. When the population is gone down and it’s hard to find games.
What do you guys think?
I know this would require a lot of power, and it’s too late to add it to H5. Maybe for H6

That would be interesting and heck, I wouldn’t even be searching for games to walk around the area. If I could I’d choose the option to not even look for a match just so I can take my time looking around/messing around the ship. I’d also have the ability to take fighters/pelicans out on patrol just because I’m a huge space flight nerd >.>
Your idea is awfully ambitious, OP. Not to say that it’s a bad one, but it might be a bit difficult to pull off without much benefit. I think your idea would be better served with its sights set lower on a tf2/quake live sort of wait lobby in that you’re loaded into the map as soon as you join and explore/kill/suicide repeatedly until the game begins. No stats tracked during this time, obviously.
Of course, that all hinges on persistent lobbies a la CoD, but that’s probably the one feature 343 ought to knock-off if they insist on a map rotation rather than a vote/veto system.
Your idea about watching other matches makes me wonder if 343 plans to implement any sort of spectator mode though. That feature isn’t utilized nearly enough in my opinion. I enjoy watching people better than myself play, doubly so if I’m too inebriated to handle a controller with any sense of coordination.
