i just played a game where a guy and a guest together earned over 25 betrayals. And they were only 2 people, another few in this game also decide to act like they have a needle in their cranium.
People defend not removing betraying as it adds ‘strategy’ and ‘makes the game easier for the zombies’. How!? Betrayal is used (In Living Dead) as a means to grief your fellow player. This happens most when tryhards get infected and just instantly go on a hate frenzy and attempt to kill their infector. Over and over.
In Living Dead, the only way to betray somebody is to shoot them with a shotgun (not too easy, actually, when they are teammates, no aim assist), spraying them with a pistol or whacking them. There are no grenades that can accidentally kill your team. No rockets or other ordnance that can catch your team. Just straight up shooting and hitting. And nine times out of ten, it’s on purpose. Like in the video below.
I normally dont play infection. So I will paint the scene for you.
Sword Base
I am a Human.
Everyone is heading for the tunnel where the lift to the top is.
A horde of Zombies are chasing me, i run for the tunnel.
One of my Human companions blasts me with the shotgun, betrayed, now I am a zombie.
He gets on his mic and says, " Welcome to Infection, mother yoinker!"

eh, i’ve gone 30+ betrayals with a score of 6 before, good fun.
anyway, it’s even no friendly fire or no betrayal booting because of the issues that lagg causes, because the game doesn’t care if you are dead or not, as long as you hit him you hit him and that’s fine, but in zombies it isn’t because it results in betrayals for playing the game correctly and wrongful booting.

You obviously don’t know how it works then. If a Human kills you as a Human, you DO NOT become a Zombie. More then likely you were caught from behind by a member of the LD.

One simple fix is all that’s required. I can’t imagine it being difficult to turn off friendly fire.

Easier said then done my friend. The Halo Game Engines have always been funny about updates since the days of Halo 2…

Yeah, don’t worry about having a teammate there to help you and possibly be your meat shield. It’s SO nice to know that while some people are trying to play by shooting the enemy, d!ck garglers like you are ruining the experience by shooting teammates. All in the name of “MY SPOT! I was here FIRST! Go AWAY!” just like a three-year-old at daycare. You’re a dip$h!7 and I hope you get -Yoink!- and die of a cold.
and evade and sword blocking again. I used to play rumble pit for infection, and loved the seperate server for it, until alpha zombies made its debut in Reach

Thankfully, we don’t need to update the engine for that. Turning off Friendly Fire takes less than sixty seconds in the gametype menu.

If I’m right about the bug’s cause, 343 would have to scrap and replace the entire Megalo engine to truly fix the bug. Best they can do without wasting tons of development time is to turn off Friendly Fire.

Alphas is worse on bad maps than Evade Zombies is, but it’s better on good maps than Evade Zombies is. I can recommend you a few good maps if you want to give the gametype another chance in Customs.

People like that generally have been betraying in Infection for months, which makes me wonder how feasible it would be for 343 to detect and possibly reset such individuals…

You don’t get infected for getting betrayed. In fact, a common strategy is to go in with a friend or two, and have them betray you when you run out of ammo.

Then you respawn with full ammo, and continue slaying!

or get the randoms to rage betray you.
i’ve actually done this, i had a huge horde of zombies after me, it was just me and 2 other guys so i got the 2 other guys to betray me getting them infected and me as last man standing on the respawn screen for 2 mins.
watching those zombies trying to find me and betraying each other was a good laugh.
