It would differently benefit Halo 4. To me if a game is going to have map editor either have one like Far Crys editor. Or don’t have one at all. That abomination called “Forge” is a disgrace to the editors.
Also instead of selling Map Pack DLC. You could sell different locations, and what not for the editors.
I’d like to be able to set weather themes as you said.
And use a custom picture of the map like you said.
And lastly I’d really like to be able to mark objects, 1 object, 2 objects, 100 objects. And then just copy them and mirror them to whatever angle I want.
That way you can make symmetric maps much easier and it would go a lot faster and therefore be more fun. Because the only real boring thing about creation imo is when you get to the point where you no longer create but just mirror your own creation sort of speak.
*Oh and you need to be able to ctrl Z (regret) and then be able to regret that you regret

While I’d like to see everything that the Far Cry editor has to offer in Halo their is still one thing that I like about Forge over far cry and that is the blocks. Far Cry almost forces you to use “full building” style objects. Which isn’t a bad thing for far cry but it would be a bad thing for Halo. I know their are some decent maps out their that make use of connecting the smaller objects of far cry but overall the object set could be better. If Halo were to take on a far cry style editor we would need tons of different blocks and walls and bridges to work with that include varying theme sets. Covy, human city, human jungle, forerunner etc… So each object would essentially have to be made multiple times. Block 2x2 in the human set, Block 2x2 in the covy set etc…
I just want forge to really expand. I honestly don’t care if it’s hard to use because even if it is all that means to me is that we will be getting less maps from the community with much better quality. Even if it was a bit difficult for me to use I’d like to see the fruits of others labor. You would also stop seeing so many of those poorly crafted walmart or burger king maps. -_- lol

Nope. It’s just a proper map editor. Forge has some alright concepts and could be expanded to make object editors (things like making buildings using to Forge pieces and being able to move the buildings as a whole) but is terribly restrictive in it’s current form. Combining aspects of Forge with a Far Cry 2 map editor would be the best thing to do.

This.
I don’t understand how you could even question a map editor. It’s something that if you don’t edit maps still has a great effect on you. You get awesome maps. And if you do create maps you would have better tools. People complaining about a proper map editor would be about the equivilent of people complaining about Halo 4 having some free DLC.
If Frankie said… Crysis Map Editor, Timesplitters Map Editor, Far Crys Map Editor I’ll take any of them in Halo 4. 343 hire any of the people that made those editors possible.
The only thing I didn’t like about Far Cry was the lack of a snow theme. My favorite maps are snow and I’ve always wanted to make a forge map in a snow area.
