So here we are in 2015 and still the latency issue has not even been addressed. Lets look at this logically… how on earth can you throw European players on American servers ? I am playing constantly on American host and to be honest I am quite sick of it. This is the same reason I never bought Destiny because also Bungie seem to think the world resides in America. Honestly… how difficult is it to group European players on their own server? You did it for Halo 4 360 and somehow it all has reverted back to the old days…
I cannot even play Halo 3 or Halo 2 on TMCC because the netcode was so bad back in the day and it is still the same for European players. Anyone who says ’ I do not notice anything’ well you are too much of a noob atm to notice the difference. Anyone who thinks ‘lag’ and ‘latency’ are the same need a lesson in computers. I am really sick of trading kills with someone because his last shot registered before mine even though I fired first. Internet connection has nothing to do with it because it is all about the ‘distance’ that data has to travel to the host.
For those Americans who think everyone has a perfect connection next time you switch on halo throw a granade and watch the granade come out of your hand… you will find it is instantanious. For European players the granade will come out a split second later. This is because my computer has done the animation on time but had to wait a split second for the granade to come out of my hand and communicate with the American/Canadian host. This also means very subtle gameplay effects will be had due to latency.
Reduced shotgun/sword range by at least 50%
Inaccurate BR because your opponant moved faster than you could see it on screen.
Bad reaction times. When you are shot at your xbox registeres it a split-second after it has happened
= Melee battle loses. Here it is in the nutshell imagine you live in California. The host is in central America. We get into a melee battle. I hit you and you hit me 1 second later. Even though you hit me 2nd the host will register your hit first because your data had less time to travel than mine = you will kill me before I can kill you even though I had the better reaction time.
I have to admit that 343’s netcode seems to be superior to Bungie’s but still the effects are seen. When you are new to Halo or playing noobs these effects wont be recognised by you because the skill-gaps between players are larger. When the skill-gaps are tighter these subtle gameplay effects put you at a huge disadvantage.
343 when will European players be on their own servers again ?

I face these same issues and man is it frustrating. It just sucks how gaming is worldwide now but this nonsense still exists. Play halo 3 with these problems and your double screwed with its shots registration issue.
The game has recently done a great job of keeping me playing with Australian players. But that said, there’s still host advantage, and in a country as big as Australia and with our -Yoink- copper internet network the host has a huge advantage regardless. I swear I was getting dedicated servers for a while there though, a few weeks ago.
100% region locked dedicated servers is probably the BIGGEST reason I’m excited for Halo 5, may sound stupid, but it really does top the list. Latency has plagued my online gaming since I first started playing Halo.
I think Halo 2 Classic is the best game for European players, Halo 3 and Halo 2 AV are almost unplayable due to really bad latency. Sometimes you simply cant get the last shot. One game can be fine and the next 5 games you cant do anything, and you can hear american accents on the winning team.
The problem is Halo MCC never got its so promised dedicated servers, its only P2P, and I fear that when Halo 5 comes out Halo MCC will die out and 343 will stop supporting this game eventually.
There has been so many lies about Halo MCC from 343s side about this remake, so many things not working like it did back in the days.
Well Im thinking of not buying Halo 5, Im pretty tired with Halo MCC now too.
