I remember this.
Newer players got a clear advantage given to them which accomplished nothing as the community collapsed just as fast if not faster than previous gears games.
The goal should be to get rid of the things that don’t logically make sense to players instead of giving crutches or buffs or nerfs etc.
But communities hate change of their games mostly.
Gears is simply too shotgun dominated and that is the opposite of how the single player plays.
The communities just seem to want to scream skill curve but it is more than that.
Things need to make sense to players.
Goin full tinfoil
For years 343 denied they were working on bots, there were posts on the old forum (also tinfoil) that bots were being tried out in multiplayer and firefight in already existing games
Nothing is real!
Not surprising. These are the same companies that hire psychologists and spend millions researching ways to keep people addicted to their games and spending money them.
100% with you on not giving people a crutch. It just shouldn’t happen, and I think EPIC had made the wrong conclusion that a person getting a kill in their first match means they’ll play another match.
I don’t agree that getting rid of things that don’t make any logical sense is right way to go about it for every single game.
I was actually an avid Gears player for the first 3 games, and I liked that the campaign/horde mode gave a different experience than the multiplayer.
To explain myself here. I don’t think the gameplay of the campaign would have made a good multiplayer and I don’t think the gameplay of the multiplayer would have made a good campaign.
In fact, we actually have an example of Gears of War bringing the multiplayer gameplay closer to campaign in what is popularly considered to be the worst game of the series Judgement. The lancer and hammerburst were the dominant weapons and the shotgun took a backseat in that multiplayer.
Do you remember the launch of judgment where they had one weapon starts to basically force the shotty off the battlefield lol.
It was simply too late to even try that 4 games in.
so, i certainly agree with you.
