A Tutorial for Making Halo 4 Threads

> Your views are refreshing. Stay classy my friend.

Thank you, and I’ll try.

Ah, if everyone here expressed their concerns as politely as you and I do (although I definitely could do some improvement with my wording), the community as a whole would have much better chances of being listened. While this thread most certainly is off-topic, it’s definitely worth of keeping on the front page.

I really appreciated that you aknowledged the problems of both sides. All the time I see threads complaining about people complaining. That kind of attitude is far from productive. Did the community follow the advice of this thread, I believe some kind of progress could even be made with this whole subject.

Thank you. You are certainly not the problem here. All of your posts are very detailed and well thought out. Unfortunately you are the exception, and it would be nice to see the rest of the community follow in a similar manner.

as far as the thread being off topic, i tried to incorporate elements of Halo 4 discussion in it. I acknowledged this while writing so I threw in some Halo 4 issues etc. to keep it relevant.

Also just a suggestion to get this circulating. If you see someone who has recently made a unproductive, and uninformative thread. Link them to this main thread so that they can see. Those are the people it’s targetting. Unfortunately, I don’t know if those people would even click and read it. Spread it around and get the community on track.

If I were in charge, this thread would be a pinned topic. It’s really easy to go overbroad with your feelings on internet when you have the anonymity provided, and you can say pretty much anything without fear. And I believe that people in general usually have problems with making their thoughts into words and not only that, but also writing it down. Not only that, but even people who are capable of writing good text, treat forum posts like text messages, something you quickly write down and forget. In reality, the post is like a job application e-mail, it gives people the impression of you and you better consider what you write to be taken seriously.

This thread certainly won’t change the attitude of people over night, but if there is even one person who actually learns something, this thread has already been a success. We can only hope that people will understand how to have a good discussion over internet. The first step would probably be to realize that you’re discussing with an actual person.

For the good cause of this thread, I will certainly tell about it to people who need it the most. Maybe, just maybe, some of them will learn that the posts you make have a meaning.

Thank you. I appreciate that. I don’t expect massive changes over night but maybe as time progresses and more people see it, the overall forum content will be more productive.

Halo is more than a game, it is a community, and it’s not healthy for the community to be in a state of disarray like this.

Bump.

It appears as though plenty of the people on the forums are uneducated. I remember a forum where when there was a useless topic, or if you were aggressive in any way what so ever, or even if you spoke in l33t speak too much, you were banned. Some bad cases resulted in an IP ban. There were a lot of polite, awesome people on that forum.

They would organize a game night every night, and as it turned out, the one time I joined them, it turned out that they were 12 - 15 year old kids who weren’t very educated at all. This proves that anyone can post a good post without being aggressive toward anything, anyone, and any company.

Im just gonna move this. Ooh. It appears I have “bumped” into this thread.

I gotta be honest, seeing that it’s a thread on Waypoint, I was fully expecting sarcasm with a side of “You bad.”

Unfortunately, that’s what it’s come to after Friday and Saturday and the horrible storm that was.

Just wanted to say thanks for making that thread, man. Hopefully people actually will see this and actually think before they say.

I don’t blame you. The forums are a tough place to be right now. Things need to change and we all need to work for the good of halo.

Although I agree 100% with the OP, I won’t hold my breathe for the sudden glut of helpful, constructive threads. Sadly, this thread will be buried among the 100 ‘My opinion is FACT’ style threads within a few days.

Well some people have suggested getting it stickied, but I don’t really have control over it. Lets just keep it up so people can see.

I can’t tell you how happy I am to see this. Good job, sir. (or… should I say… SUR? /bad joke)

Its glad to know that their are people with class on the Halo forums. A say a mod would be out of his mind if he didn’t sticky this or didn’t post something similar. Great job.

Respect

I chuckled a bit.

But my name was spelled like that on purpose. I know how to spell sir.

Just so people don’t think I’m inept lol.

I don’t know how the mods conduct their buisness. I think it would be great for a sticky. But thats pretty tough to do.

Thank u sir

No problem.

Hmmm… I think I have the same problem as you. Interesting…
