Anyone who has played halo 3 ODST recognizes our little A.I. friend. But who is he? A.I.s are made… what is this little guy?
I was playing halo 2 on the master chief collection. While playing I happened to get a little agravated and took a second to explore the redesigned environment. Now this is on the holy city high charity. I noticed that in alot of areas there is this interesting trend. Alot of consoles have this little green orb in the display. This orb is olive green and has two big eyes with faint outlined fourth eyes. This symbol has an extreme resemblence to our little A.I. friend in Halo 3 ODST. Is it possible that the A.I. in New Mombassa is the same one on the high charity. Cortana says she is always having issues with a stron A.I. while there, and that it isn’t the normal kind.
What do you think? Did the A.I. run the city? Remember the A.I. wouldn’t let people leave during the assault… was mankind fooled? What happened?
Superintendent. I realized he appears in the aniversary of halo 2. He sends a messageto chief through I believe the Halo Channel. This only further cements that he was there. He was trying to stop cortana at times. I’d like to see him come back, and to see confirmation. How about that?
The Superintendent (aka Vergil) was merged with the Engineer you rescue in ODST. He was also pretty simple for an AI, and while capable, didn’t have nearly the capabilities a ‘dumb’ AI (Auntie Dot from Reach) had, and definitely not something on par with Cortana, even after merging with the Engineer.
The Superintendent was an infrastructure AI whose sole purpose was making sure the incredible logistics of a megacity like New Mombasa flowed smoothly. The only reason he has a personality at all is because of Sadi’s father (the guy who oversaw the Superintendent) installed the Virgil subroutine to take care of his daughter. This subroutine was what helped The Rookie (us) through New Mombasa, communicated with the Engineer, and was eventually absorbed by it, creating the Engineer we know as Virgil and why (if you collected all the audio logs in ODST) The Rookie is able to communicate with it in the Data Hive. Following its defection to the UNSC, Virgil was taken into ONI custody.
Any connection you’re seeing is mostly likely coincidental or 343i sticking in an easter egg. The actual program that was ‘inside High Charity’ was the Forerunner AI Mendicant Bias, who had betrayed the Forerunner to the Flood and eventually led to the firing of the Halo Array during their war, and lost the final battle to its ‘brother’ Offensive Bias. Mendicant Bias fled the battle in the Keyship, which eventually landed on the Prophet homeworld following the reseeding of the Galaxy, and ultimately became the reason the Covenant came into existence. After Humanity was first detected on Harvest, Mendicant Bias (who had recovered from its madness) attempted to remove the Keyship from High Charity and join the Reclaimers, oy to be stopped by sheer age and the fact that the Prophet used Mgalekolo worms to search the Keyship. Had MB successfully detached, High Charity would have become lifeless and the Human-Convenant war would have never happed. Ever since he ‘woke up’ he’s been trying to help Humanity, and when the Keyship docked with the Ark incHalo 3, he was the one helping the Chief along the way via the Terminals and the Cortana hologram that less the Chief and Arbiter to the platform where they found Installation 04B and then saved the Galaxy.

Its a Superintendent Class Dumb AI responsible for city upkeep, maintenance, surveillance and day to day city functions including the garbage collection.
The AI being human-aligned seeks to assist you where possible but can only communicate via certain pre-set messages.
The AI was damaged during the Covenant Invasion however it did mostly try to evacuate civilians.
The AI Cortana faced is Covenant in origin and very limited in function because the Covenant do not view AI on the likes of Cortana as acceptable.
Two different AI.
Pretty well thought theory.
