A Thanks To Frankie/343

For the recent Q&A session we got with our weekly bulletin. It answered a lot of questions we’ve all been incredibly anxious to have answered. Well, I don’t know about the rest of you but I know I was satisfied. Now we have an IDEA for SURE of what general direction 343 would like to go for Halo 5 which is all I really wanted, to be quite honest.

I am now content. Well, until the next news dump anyway. For now though, I hope everyone has a good time over the holidays 'cause I’m gonna. See you all next January!

I agree, that Q and A answered a few of my questions which is much better than no answers at all. Thanks 343/Frankie!

There are a few questions that could have been answered a bit better, but on the whole, thank you to Frankie indeed.

On a side note, i wonder what this ‘best moment of Halo’ for Frank is. If we haven’t seen it yet, then i wonder what it could be…?

I agree, it was a great read. And funny, too.

Hopefully we’re getting closer to the big reveal.

This:

What is your favorite moment in Halo, be it in novels, games or any kind of media?
“You haven’t seen it yet. But I have.”

And this:

After creating your first Halo as a brand new studio and taking on one of the largest franchises, what would you say was the biggest success and failure with Halo 4?
“Like any new studio, we had plenty of failures. Our biggest success will be accepting them and learning from them. I think that our growing understanding of the audience and ourselves and the new platform will stand us in good stead.”

I know it’s easy for us to get caught up in Halo 4’s shortfalls. But statements like this really give me confidence in the next offering. I am ever increasingly excited about what this next Halo will be.

Agreed. Thanks to both 343i and Frank for this. Was a good idea to whomever thought of this.

Frank really didn’t answer much, mostly it was either personal or maybes.

"What are you planning to do with the Arbiter and that of the Sangheili, in both the story and gameplay?

 • kaine nar rano

Can’t talk about it. But a lot."

That’s like saying Arbiter may return but it’s vague.

Then there’s this where it makes no sense:

"Humanity’s post war status looks quite promising considering how close they were to being wiped out. What is Humanity’s status during Halo 4? Colonies? Rebuilding efforts? Is the Infinity and Spartan-IV Program taking any attention away from other important issues?

They are taking the initiative. Trying to keep the Covenant off balance. The Spartan-IV program is essential to that mission. "

Since the Covenant was disbanded, the Prophet’s went missing and the ‘Storm’ are supposed to be a splinter cell faction of the old Covenant, it’s even said in SA too that they weren’t part of the Covenant and the UNSC are supposed to be allied with the Arbiters faction.

Yes I really did like that they did this it got me even more excited for the next game! My favorite was when Frank was asked what his favorite moment is in halo and he said “you haven’t seen it yet. But I have.”

I only see it is as a marketing-plot … boasting about how the next Halo is going to be the greatest.

The first useful bulletin in a long time… my faith is rekindled.

Extremely ambiguous statements like 343i always makes gives you confidence in the next Halo game?

I’m not sure how to even respond to that.

Edit: After reading some more posts, I think I have an idea. How about we don’t get excited and start thinking, “OMG 343i ACTUALLY cares for real this time, guiz!”. Seriously, these answers are about as ambiguous and open-ended as the PR and marketing guys could ever hope for.

Frank gives vague, stock answers to vague questions.

I’m not sure why everyone is excited either.

Not to mention he said pretty much what he already said before.

If I read correctly, he said we would be directly addressed about feedback soon. That alone makes me a little excited.he also brought up future covenant stories and the involvement of the arbiter. Just knowing that those things are on 343s plate right now is enough for me at this point.

What is wrong with this? He’s supposed to keep us guessing, not knowing.

Agreed. People, don’t forget about that twitter page that was posted, about the 343i employee and the words he said on it

I really don’t see why people are getting all excited. 343 has stated before that they know they made from mistakes and that they will learn from them.

Not only is that vague but that doesn’t mean in anyway that they are going to remove most of infinity and go back to 1-3 style. People really shouldn’t get there hopes up. developers leave things open ended for a reason.

> What is wrong with this? He’s supposed to keep us guessing, not knowing.

Because that is ALL we ever get. Not to say we are entitled to all sorts of information and news, but as far as I’m concerned if you’re going to be vague, don’t even bother. We got vague responses for custom games, theater and so much more. It got old pretty fast.
