First post on the forums so bare with me…
I’ve seen a huge amount of negative posts across the forums, which is to be expected as you’ll see more noise about what people don’t like than what they do. No doubt if someone was happy with the game, they wouldn’t post nearly as much as those who have criticisms.
Whilst I understand the criticisms and agree with a few of them, I just wanted to post here to say thank you to 343 for creating a Halo game that understands its roots and has been really well built gameplay wise.
I wasn’t a big fan of Halo 4, and I somewhat liked Halo 5, but I feel like Infinite has been a fantastic addition to the roster. The gameplay is really thrilling with plenty of different ways to play.
I also think that taking the difficult decision to delay the game to ensure it was ready was the right move. AAA games these days succeed or flop based on their launch and it’s imperative that it’s done right.
To the toxic side of the community, I would just ask to have a bit of patience. 343 have already noted they are taking in the feedback, but imagine you’ve spent years developing a game to receive some of the toxicity you see on these forums. They deserve to have a bit of time off, especially with how crunch culture works in the run up to a release (I’m sure Microsoft had a bit of arm twisting to have an early release to coincide with the 20 year anniversary). You can disagree with how a game is managed, but do it constructively or you run the risk of it being ignored as toxic feedback. Change will come if you ask for it correctly.
Whilst I don’t agree with having plenty of armour customisation hidden behind huge in-game credit amounts in the store, I understand that the game needs to succeed in monetary terms for it to continue to be worked on and evolve. I bought the battle pass knowing that it would support the game going forward - especially as a free to play game (A big reason some of my mates are coming back to their first Halo game since 3/Reach).
So to sum up my first post, I just wanted to thank 343 and apologise for some of the toxicity they are having to sift through in order to get the nuggets of good feedback - your hard work is being recognised by veteran and new players alike.
