As I was playing a match in reach half my team leaves and I think to myself, “Wow, I’m so glad join in progress will be in Halo 4…”
Then I thought about my double XP matches, and how if the join in progress is anything like other games, most of the double XP matches could be used on games that are almost finished.
What do you guys think? Will this inevitably happen?
You won’t get as much XP, since, I’m assuming, it doubles the XP you got from the match. Best to play a full game and get as much XP as you can from it.
That would be pretty bad. One way to avoid this is to play with a ful team so you dont join in a game

Your concern is certainly valid, and I’d say a way to avoid this is join matchmaking, but stay in the post-game lobbies, so you’ll never have to risk more than one 2XP match per session.
I think they said that the amount of XP you earn is proportional to the amount of time spent ingame and such. Obviously that’s added so that people can’t just jump in last minute and get full credit for the whole game and boost that way.

If you need filler, go pick up some cheap 2nd hand games while you wait, I’d recommend Borderlands if you haven’t tried it, but it is best with friends…
Don’t worry about it too much. To make the most of your Double XP, just play in playlists that don’t have join in progress. (I’m not sure which ones those are, but I know there are some.)
