A solution to Halo 5 MP

Clearly fans of Halo are divide as to the style of Halo multiplayer. You have the classic Halo purists and the post-Reach modernists. I have a simple solution that would fix a multitude of issues. One implement a ranked and social playlist setup similar to Halo 3. ‘Ranked’ would cater to the classic style of Halo, no sprint, descope instead of flinch, no loadouts or ordinances. Social would obviously be a kin to Halo 4, loadouts, flinch, sprint, ordinances. Two, both playlist groupings would have an independent ranking system. Ranked the classic 1 - 50. Social an exp based level system similar to Reach and 4. Three, timely fixes to said multiplayer. My biggest complaint about Halo 4 was that patches came very slowly at first.

Just my humble opinions on what could ‘fix’ Halo’s multiplayer.

What about us potential Halo 5 players that prefer social over ranked but want to play Halo 5 gameplay, not a rehashed Halo 4? For example, I’ve always played in the social playlists but I despise flinch and ordnance.

Referring to social and ranked for namesake. maybe should of used germs like classic. and modern.

What you’re asking for is essentially two completely different games, and it would be infeasible for 343i to design and provide upkeep for two completely different games. Even if you split it in half, one side would be dominant either because the maps, weapons, and vehicles would be designed for one type of play, or because the developer would just be partial to one of them. Not only that, but Halo would lose its identity and the community would be forever at war with each other over “which Halo is best,” just like we are now.

This has been suggested many, many times before and it’s not a very popular “solution.”

Well there probably is a middle ground… just trial and error, and how much the two fan bases will move, rather than be stubborn and won’t budge, or grow with halo. But if what you say is implemented it would actually probably be called Infinity and Classic. This way the canon is still in-tact with the WARGAMES Simulator on UNSC Infinity, for the Spartan-IVs, and then the classic mode for the older players. If the two modes where called Ranked (Halo 2, Halo 3) and Social (Halo 4, Halo: Reach); then that would technically be saying that Halo 3 is the best… and socials for noobs. There could be ranked systems in both with professional gamers in each game-mechanic. Heck I grew up with both so I wouldn’t mind either or… but it must be equal on both parties terms, otherwise it will be just like Halo 4, with the modern player leaving and classic older players staying… thus half the fan base.

I once thought this was the best solution but have now changed my mind.

This solution is splitting the player base. And we don’t want this.

You need to somehow blend H3, HR and H4 together. HR and H4 do have many great features. But the main thing these 2 games lack, that H3 was the king off, was ARENA SHOOTER.

Halo needs to be an Arena Shooter again, and take what was best from H3, HR and H4. And blend them together and have the game balanced and a skill gap is noticeable between average and great players.

Custom Loadouts to evolve and be much more balanced than H4. Perks and POD need to be gone forever, AA to be new map pickups and possible have multiple uses. But are work much more like H3 Equipment. A in game Ranking system is required. And de-scope to replace flinch.

H5 needs to return Halo to an Arena Shooter. And needs to evolve from H3, but still requires many of the features from HR and H4.

H4 did many things right, unfortunately it did many things wrong. But this can also be said of REACH as well.

We all think Halo 3 as the perfect Halo. But it had many flaws when it was released and did not become the perfect Halo untill it had it’s TU. And yet there were still a couple of things that were broken. But overall it was a bloody great game.

Agreed, that why having both won’t work. Sounds great in Theory, but your splitting the community even more than HR and H4 have.

You have to try have the one system that please both groups. Not an easy thing to do. But probably the best.

Sure some features we love maybe dropped but as long as most remain, we should be OK. But most importantly, Halo needs to be an ARENA SHOOTER once more. This has been lost since REACH. And a Ranking system from day one that is viewable in game is also a must.

> I’m just going to point out the older style was more successful in terms of population growth and longevity.

Also that older style had really no competition from other console shooters and multiplayer games. Even single player focused games like Tomb Raider (2013) and Assassin’s Creed Black Flag have multiplayer it is just a standard check box for publishers.
