A small summary of each weapon in Halo 4

UNSC:

Assault Rifle: Fully Automatic firearm, 32 rounds per clip, Effective at close range. The AR has been buffed up in terms of damage and Sounds effects.

Battle Rifle: 3-round burst rifle, 2x Zoom scope, 36 round clip, Effective at close to medium range. The BR is a 5-Burst kill now but still is a very versatile weapon.

DMR: Single shot, 3x Zoom scope, 14 rounds per clip, Effective at medium - long range. Laser accurate, the DMR will be your choice of weapon for accuracy and damage if you don’t mind the paced fire-rate.

Magnum: Semi-Automatic, 2x zoom scope, 8 rounds per clip, Effective at close - Medium range. The go to side arm of the War-games.

Sniper Rifle: Single shot, 5x and 10x magnification, 4 rounds per clip, Effective at any range in the hand of a capable spartan. 1 Headshot to kill, 2 Bodyshots to kill. Reported to be much more accurate than previous versions of the weapon.

Shotgun: Pump-action, 6 Shells loaded, Effective at point blank and close ranges. The Universal translator of the UNSC. About the same as the Reach shotgun. This gun will make short work out of all of your foes if you use it correctly, Playing defensively (guarding bases or flags) will work out in your favor.

Rocket Launcher: Single Shot, 2x zoom, 2 Rockets and be loaded at once, Effective at any range provided if on target. Direct hit/splash equals deadly. Can lock onto enemy air vehicles.

Sticky Detonator: Single shot, 1 round per shot. Launches a single electro-magnetic grenade which sticks to surfaces, enemies and vehicles. The grenade can be remotely detonated with aid from the on-gun grenade radar.

Spartan Laser: Single shot, 2x zoom, shoulder mounted laser pointer of death. The laser takes a few seconds to charge up fully and when charged will fire a beam that will destroy most vehicles and enemies in a single shot. Each charge takes 25% battery to use. Anti-everything basically. Stronger than the Reach variant, weaker than Halo 3’s.

Rail-gun: Single shot, 1 round per clip, the Rail gun is a mini spartan laser. Take 2 seconds to charge up fully. Each fully charged shot will kill a enemy instantly, but lacks the power against vehicles. The Rail-gun also has kinetic energy properties. Basi

SAW: 72 rounds per magazine, Fully automatic, Suppression weapon. Used by squads to suppress groups of enemies on the battlefield. Effective at close range. “THIS GUN SCARES ME!”-Bravo

Frag Grenade: Standard throughout most branches of the UNSC, the grenade will causes powerful explosion when it detonates. Can be bounced of walls once to hit harder targets.

Target Locator: Mark an area and call down an air strike. (Campaign and Spartan ops Only)

COVENANT:

Storm Rifle: Battery powered, Fully Automatic firearm, Overheat. Used by Covenant Elites as a main weapon. Effective at close ranges and very effective against shielded enemies. Previously known the ‘Assault Carbine’ in early stages of development.

Covenant Carbine: Single shot, 2x zoom scope, 18 rounds per clip, Effective at medium-long ranges. The Carbine is very accurate and has a fast fire rate but lacks the punch of other precision weapons.

Plasma Pistol: Battery powered, rapid fire Single shot, Over-charge, Overheat. The PP may be small but it will prove to be useful against vehicles and shielded opponents. Each shot consumes 2% charge and a charged shot consumes 20% of the charge. A charged shot acts like an EMP and will disable shields and vehicles for a short time.

Beam Rifle: Single shot, 5x and 10x magnification, Overheat, Battery powered. The beam rifle is the standard sniper of the Covenant. Each shot consumes 10% of the battery. This gun is the easiest sniper to fire out of scope with. Effective at any range in the hands of a capable spartan.

Concussion Rifle: Rapid fire, 4 rounds per clip, Explosive, Splash damage. The concussion rifle is effective at close range. This gun shares kinetic properties similar to the Brute shot.

Fuel Rod Cannon: 5 rounds per clip, rapid fire, 2x zoom, Effective at any range if on target. The fuel rod is effective against vehicles thanks to its rapid rate of fire. A direct hit will not kill a spartan, but can leave them un-shielded and badly wounded.

Needler: High rate of fire, projectiles move quickly, Needles can combine together to explode and thus killing the target. Needles home in the their target. Infantry weapon used by covenant forces. Effective at close range.

Gravity Hammer: Point blank melee weapon, used by brutes in the Human-Covenant war, the Hammer will crush any opponent unfortunate enough to get close to you. Launches victims high into the air. 8% charge used per kill.

Energy Sword: Melee weapon used by high ranking Elites to dispatch close foes. The sword can be used as a standard melee weapon but can also lunge from a a few feet away to quickly bring an end to your victim. 10% charge used per kill.

Plasma Grenade: A grenade which can stick to enemies and vehicles. When it Detonates, it causes a large explosion capable of serious damage to its victims.

Promethean:

Suppressor: 48 round clip, fully automatic, Effective at close ranges. Forerunner in origin. SMG style weapon with a high rate of fire. Little is known at this point in time.

Light Rifle: Burst fire from the hip, Single shot when zoomed in. 36 rounds per clip (when un-zoomed) and 12 rounds per clip (when zoomed in). 3x zoom. Effective at both medium and long ranges. The Light Rifle combines the best of both worlds between the BR and the DMR and is used by the Promethean knights.

Boltshot: 10 rounds per clip, over-charge, single shot. Fires are quickly as you can pull its trigger. Can be charged up to a mauler like blast which consumes 5 rounds of the clip. The charge takes 2 seconds to fully charge up and after 4 seconds will fire even if you didn’t want it to. Timing is key with this weapon.

Binary Rifle: Single shot, 5x to 10x magnification, 2 rounds per clip. The Binary rifle is the most powerful sniper in your arsenal. An instant kill if hit anywhere on the body. Almost impossible to kill from range when un-scoped. When Un-scoped, a small laser will show where you are looking, Enemies can see this too.

Scattershot: Hinge-action shotgun, 5 rounds loaded at one time. The scattershot acts almost identically to the UNSC shotgun but its pellets can bounce off surfaces allowing for shooting round corners. The Scattershot is also thought to be slightly more precise than the UNSC shotgun.

Incineration Cannon: Single shot, 1 round before requiring a reload. This cannon combines the traits of the shotgun, the flamethrower and the rocket launcher. Incinerates its victims and spreads out like shotgun pellets. The incineration cannon is the best anti-infantry heavy weapon.

Pulse Grenade: When thrown, the pulse grenade will erupt (where is lands of course) into an EMP ‘bubble’, This causes vehicles to be disabled and shields are slowly drained. Any enemy caught in the bubble when it detonates will be vaporized.

Wait, I thought it was an instant kill anywhere on the body. Is that true?

‘The rifle can currently carry up to two rounds and kills in one hit anywhere on the body.’

Also, does anyone know if the Concussion Rifle’s explosion force was increased or decreased from Reach? Because I remember hearing both.

The concussion rifle’s clip was changed from reach it now has a 4 round clip.

He haven’t seen a whole lot of footage of it so I’m not sure I suggest watching the covenant weapons vid and deciding for your self.

Though it’s rather trivial now, you could add that the Storm Rifle used to be known as the Assault Carbine back when 343 teased us so much about Halo 4. Those were the days man…-.-

OP: Nice post and thanks for the summary. I just want to mention that we do not know that all the weapons have been released yet. Example.
This might imply that covenant and promethean weapons lists are inconclusive as well. It is possible that we will see the sentinel beam in campaign. (sentinels have been confirmed)

You raise a very good point there, I shall add the Target locater to the list soon. The sentinel beam might be added soon. As for the idea of additional weapons. I have no idea but thanks for raising that key point.
