Free, To, Play. This means none of us are entitled to extra free stuff such as more coatings, armor cores, and such. “BuT wHaT iF i SpEnT tHe 60$, iTs JuSt 343 bEiNg UnFaIr.” The 60$ that may be spent on the game was spent towards Halo Infinite’s Campaign and future campaign DLC. And this probably won’t be a problem to most gamers that own Game Pass, which Infinite immediately releases on.
I’m tired.
Just yell at me in the comments for being a heretic or sumn imma sleep.
Just because it’s free to play doesn’t mean you have to settle for a bad system. Other games that are live services handle free/premium split way better than Infinite. You are right, nobody is entitled to anything, but a game like Destiny 2 values me as a player way better than Halo does currently. Guess which game is likely to get my money?
Completely different style of game. Your cosmetics in those games and the weapons you can get DO affect your gameplay and are not only cosmetic. Destiny 2 is an open-world RPG looter shooter. Halo infinite is an arena shooter. And spending money in Destiny 2 will get you a better weapon or armor thus making it pay to win. In Halo Infinite you will recieve only a cosmetic.
The problem for me isn’t cosmetics costing money, it’s that aspects of the game have been made worse to support the microtransaction business model.
- Outlines instead of traditional red vs. blue
- Annoying intro cutscene showing off Spartans before the game starts
- Absurdly limited multiplayer playlist options, presumably to make completing challenges take more time
- Non-canon armors and outlandish cosmetics that will definitely be added
- Potentially increased number of cheaters due to free-to-play
We get it. You love being milked for every cent you have. The rest of us don’t and we aren’t going to be silent about being taken advantage of and we certainly aren’t going to be quiet about a broken XP and challenge system. Especially when we do buy the BP and it’s still awful and not rewarding at all.
Fairly sure you have no real idea how Destiny 2 actually works. When you buy the season pass, you may get early access to an exotic weapon, but you aren’t guaranteed to win. Plenty of people with exotics can get wiped by someone using a basic rare weapon. Otherwise, the cosmetics you get for weapon and armor have zero impact on gameplay. You can’t actually buy better weapons or armor.
You do get tons of shaders for free that aren’t restricted to “cores” like Infinite.
You get options for getting premium content without paying a dime.
You get a battle pass that doesn’t intentionally waste your time with minimal XP games.
Don’t settle for less.
- we have a downgraded system for customization for literally everything including Emblems.
- They lied because last year on a Twitter post they said they wouldnt do what they are doing now.
- Paying for campaign doesn’t even grant unlockables to the MP.
- we are paying $60 for a Halo game missing a mode and co-op feature. A feature that has somehow became revolutionary all over again.
So I’m sorry, how is the fanbase entitled now?
Instead you get a lying corrupt company that enjoys nothing more than deceiving its playerbase.
Things I buy in Infinite will stay, unlike Destiny where it has maybe a 2 year shelf life.
Season passes in Infinite have ZERO FoMo involved.
Destiny has clear P2W in some aspects. Such as Stasis, pass exotics usually being broken, and added fluff free don’t get. Yes, it’s an expansion, but that should give more stuff, not see a sheer difference in advantage. Besides, pass armor usually rolls at a high end vs rare drops, so there’s that too.
Shaders were very recently changed. They used to be locked behind many walls, and cost PER APPLICATION. So you can’t use that excuse, as it took 3+ years to fix that.
Options for premium? Like what, 2 weapons per season? No. They rip out of the main game and add in only paid content. Every year less and less is available for “free.”
The pass is currently screwed, yes. However, look at the impact. Took 3 days to band aid a fix with hope of being better and more.
Destiny takes months or years to “fix” anything, and even then it’s a lazy crap job at best.
Long story short, two different games and models. You do you with your money, but throwing it at a fresh game to improve is better than a company that’s competing with EA in terms of scummy.
Now I know you have no idea what you’re talking about. Next topic.
I would spend money for a system I appreciated that added to Halo’s customization instead of taking away. We have a system that takes away, and people are naturally unhappy about it. I don’t know why you’re getting so upset about it? No one was criticizing you by saying they don’t like the system. People weren’t implying you couldn’t like the game. So why are you getting so upset.
As for the it won’t be a problem for those with game pass. Microsoft chose to put it on game pass. They apparently believe that will make them more money. It’s their choice. Apparently they’ll make more money off us paying for game pass than they will us buying the game right out. So they’re making more money off the campaign by it being game pass than us buying it right out. That, or they made a calculated mistake. Which is on them.
Whatever you say, friend. Having Stasis doesn’t make you anymore likely to win, heck I tend to stick with the Arc subclass and do just fine. I do hope Stasis is spread wider in the future, but as you said it is part of an expansion. As for shaders, you are correct in what you say, but still I never paid a dime for them and now they can be freely applied. What exactly is 343’s excuse with their coatings with that kind of precedent set? I also like using Bright Dust to get cosmetics and such from the Eververse Store.
Make no mistake, Destiny isn’t perfect, but I’d rather support it than Infinite at the moment. After the REQ Packs in 5 funded a bunch of recycled content, 343 needed to prove they can make a good system. Somehow, rather than capitalizing on the MCC, they come out of the gate with Infinite. If they can do better, cool. Right now, I guess they’ll be content with throwing up a paywall totaling $1000 and just waiting for the whales.
Does anyone else feel like it’s a little disingenuous to be upset about the Battle Pass’s “slow” progression? By my calculations I’ll complete this thing in around 8 weeks time just doing what I do…
I think the main gripe that most of us have is that compared to say Halo: Reach this game has way fewer customization options due to the weird limitations they’ve implemented AND you’re required to pay if you want to unlock them all. Not to mention coatings being limited to specific armors etc. Every previous game we payed for the game and got the content, now we’re being nickel and dimed for content that used to be standard and told to be thankful for it.
It’s a $20 game at best (if everything right now was unlocked) and is unfinished, and they are selling armor bundles for $20. If I set a budget of $40 which is probably the max I would spend on this game, it would get me very few (mostly ugly) items.
Lorentz Driver? And I guess Vex Mythos is free. Ace of spades was one for the longest time but is now free. You must admit that D2 has had its broken weapons. And they are usually bought, not earned.
Thats why are said they arent entitled.
This is incorrect there are armor lockers hidden throughout the campaign that unlock various cosmetics
He is a bit confused but not entirely. Bungie went and legacy locked just about everything from the original game to force you to play the new updates to get their new weapons
Oh really? Source? Cause right now I’m tempted to tell you that you’re full of it.
