A slight boost in Halo Wars population

So I been slowly the few years been knocking out General rank. Only 110,000 points away. It takes forever when you spend a hour of gameplay and only get 2 - 4000 points a win. 3-600 a loss. Sigh.

Anyways I was playing today and I noticed a lot of new recruits and people without ranks yet. So I’m wondering if this announcement has brought a bit of interest into people who never played Halo Wars before.

Still playing newbish Generals who focus solely on ODSTs and Covenant who focus on nothing but Scarabs, leading to easy fights. How they got there. I’m still at a lost

If that’s that case, I think I’ll sign in and start playing myself. I usually like to play as Covenant and make mostly Wraiths mixed with whatever counters what my enemy is making (Ex. Vampires if they’re making Hawks). Though I don’t know how effective this is since I’ve only played with friends in LAN so far.

What strategies do you recommend?

I learned to Diversify. Like focus a unit at 1st to prevent rushes, and even get the enemy thinking your going to focus that one type and they start to counter you. Then you attack with your tanks and face their hunters, thinking your going all tanks. But you have cobras behind those tanks. And hornets rushing in past the Hunters, Attacking their shrine.

People seem the spam units of one type. Yet you only need a fraction of the counter unit to wipe out a full force.

i think the announcement of halo wars 2 has brought a lot of people back to halo wars and those who didn’t get it the first time probably picked it up for cheep recently. and halo wars was getting more popular even before the new game was announced

They really need to make it free with gold. Boost the population for bit. Build the hype

I haven’t been able to find my old disc in so long, may have to try and buy a new one sadly. A shame I’ll have to climb the ranks again. Loved playing as the UNSC. I’m no pro either I just played the story and loved it and played very little multiplayer so I see myself as a noob.

Same way they got it in Halo 3, they boosted it

Good to hear that people are still playing Halo Wars, I plan on coming back to it myself when backwards compatibility gets here.

Completely forgot about that, can’t wait! I got into Halo Wars when Reach was getting popular so sitting around waiting for someone to play with wasn’t much fun. At least, that’s what happened to me. Felt like no one was playing at one point.

Considering trueskill matchmaking system, if you are brigadier (so you are probably decent) you shouldn’t get with none-ranked guys. This may happen if your trueskill level got a reset or if you lost many battles and so fell to lower levels. Am I wrong?

I am also waiting to be graced by backwards compatibility so that I can come back and start playing again!

played campaign on easy and put it down. Now after the announcement I am going for achievements and started playing more multiplayer, any tips?

Diversify. Don’t get focused on the ONE special unit each commander brings into the field. A Cutter who focuses on ODSTs is doomed to failure. same with a forge on Grizzlies and with a anders on Falcons

Just find friends to super turtle with. I have found more people with mics in halo wars than MCC

I’ve always been one to work on my ODSTs priority one, but that’s just because I’m hardcore into infantry personnel, especially ODSTs. But I like to throw in a few Spartans and plenty of vehicles to add variety in my army. Not just this solely-air-vehicle or nothing-but-scorpions armies. Tbh that really grinds my gears.

Glad to hear the population is increasing, last time I was on that game maybe a year or two ago the max I saw would be like 5,000 people in the daytime and like 1,000 at night. Hopefully the game is one of the first few on backwards compatibility so I can buy it again.

Man, I hope this game gets BC support because I really miss it. My 360 got broken. Fort Deen was hands down my favorite map. So much memories.

Why is it newbish to just focus on one unit?

If you are able to handle this, e. g. forge with grizzlys or covenant with scarabs, you have a powerful army.

It’s noobish if you pigeon hole yourself with one type of unit regardless of the situation. For example, players who continue to pump out scorpions even after a Covenant player has adapted and switched to vehicle countering units such as hunters or banshees. A large portion of players do not understand how to properly counter and simply build what they think is the most powerful unit, or even just overall cool.

lol I could hit general if i wanted in under 2 weeks lol. People like you on the other hand can’t hit it for about 6 months lol.
