A sliding melee should win against a normal melee

Alright, I’ll look into that. But I would want melee parries to become easier if they don’t want melee trades.

Define easier in this context.

The connection to the game would probably impact this a lot and although it sounds simple I could see just resulting in some frustrating moments, or 2 people bouncing off each other over and over while other players stroll on by for some easy shots on either of the 2 players.

It’s too simple imo, to the point where the parry is pretty much always guaranteed between 2 players walking towards each other thinking the same exact thing. For that reason I like the built in parry system better, or the trade itself vs this back and forth clashing because its a standard melee. Like with the sword you have an actual lunge attack and then a standard swing so there’s ways to actually beat someone with the timing since 1 is a lunge and the other isn’t. With standard melee it’s just 1 button. Not 2 like the sword.

For easier I mean that anyone can accidentally do it in a game. But I do agree that the sword parry is also too easy, but I think that it’s still good enough where you do get a winner in a fast amount of time. But melee parrying would be good if they want to remove trade offs.

Sliding shouldn’t even be Halo, and it’s already giving an advantage to mobility. No thanks.

I like this idea to a touch. It’s sorta like how grenades do various forms of damage depending on the distances of explosion to the Spartan.

I’m not digging it. Let’s keep movement and damage separate. This game already has enough inconsistencies with melee, this would only make it worse.

nah it wouldn’t do that, it’d just make sliding before meleeing mandatory

not quite. you shouldnt just be able to turn around and easily melee someone sliding at you. On the flip slide, a slide melee is risky as youre telegraphing your move and your opponent could stay out of your slide range, spray you with bullets then hit you with a normal melee.

Then stop sliding in full view of people? Look sliding has its uses, but now you’re arguing just to make sliding basically compulsory to win cqc fights which is just ludicrous.

Sliding around corners almost always wins melee fights anyway because your entire bloody hitbox being lower than their LoS means they waste time trying to sight you and melee you while you already got a quick melee off of them. If you are running yourself at someone, then sliding while they are backing away and shooting you, it begs the question of WHY THE HELL ARE YOU RUNNING AND SLIDING AT SOMEONE INSTEAD OF SHOOTING THEM.
Halo isn’t balanced just around your dumb slide addiction, it’s balanced around guns and grenades and jumping as well.

At this rate, the next thing you’re gonna suggest is Sliding negates pushback from Repulsor. Holy crap I wonder if you’re related to Alternate Volt or something, the only other dude on here which stubbornly argues poor suggestions.

PS: you know you can shoot while sliding right? If you run at someone and slide and still lose the melee fight, you are 100% bad.

Its like you exist on this forum to call ideas dumb. If the invis equipment didnt exist and I came up with the idea of invis, you would call that dumb too becasuse youre afraid halo would be ruined by new ideas just because its new. The only thing that matters with an idea is, is it interesting? and is it balanced? Do i know the answers to that? not quite.

Its not about losing, its about an enemy you completely dominated, invading their space, being able to hit you wth a cheap melee before they die.

What if they are both sliding?

In your world, would a curb slide beat a regular slide? What about a grapple slide?

its not about the slide, just whos moving faster. or it can jusst be whoever’s moving faster than sprint, just trades with each other. whatever feells more balanced.
