In Halo 4, will taking a bullet when scoped knock you out of it (= unzoom you)? Or will it be like we saw in the E3 build, where it doesn’t knock you out of your scope like in previous games, but instead makes your reticle bounce?
I would gladly have this question answered definitively and from a valid source, as the answer to it will have a severe impact on the usefulness of the Scout specialisation armor mod (stability).
A change like that would also have a severe impact on how long range duels play out. And an even bigger impact on sniping.
Personally, i would prefer the old system where you get knocked out of your scope when hit.
It leads to more slippery slope style encounters: when you land the first shot and manage to keep your opponent out of scope, you are in an advantage. However, the same mechanic allows skilled players to more easily turn the tide of an encounter.
More importantly,
it adds a much needed nerf to the sniper. The only way to keep a sniper from having enough time to line up a headshot is to unscope him all the time. Without the old system that would be impossible.
Also, it adds a luck factor to it: if you happen to shoot just after you get shot, you miss completely because of the bounce, as opposed to the old system where you would still land the shot unscoped.
Sniping would become more noob-friendly and the luck factor i described could be very frustrating in certain circumstances. But that’s just my opinion.
I agree with you I’d rather be unzoomed when shot. I didnt notice any of the reticle bouncing do you have any videos of this, how severly does it bounce?

in of which keeps you from flinching as much when you get shot while scoped in. which would lead to assume that insead of getting zoomed out, you get knocked around and cant aim as easily while zoomed in. this is good for counter sniping some one who doesnt have the stability. but if a sniper has stability maybe it wont affect power weapons or something?

I assumed that as well. A while ago, frankie mentioned on gaf that the reticule would be moving around or so before these specializations came to wind. I think that’s much better than a stand still scope. Some might even prefer to be knocked out if that’s the case…it depends.

It could also mean that zooming out is what happens when the player “flinches” from being shot…

I assumed the “flinching” would be the moving of the reticule.
The way I see it, is that you’ll be unscoped if you don’t have the Stability mod, but won’t flinch. But if you do have the Stability mod, you’ll stay scoped in, but your reticule will move (i.e. flinching).
The description says “flinch less” so i see it as no one will be zoomed-out regardless of stability mod, but the person using the stability mod will not have as much reticle bouncing when getting shot than the person who is not.

> The Stability armor mod – which features several sharp fin elements and sharp angles – makes you flinch less when you’re zoomed in and getting hit. It will be valuable to players that prefer using precision weapons and often find themselves engaged in long-range battles. If two similarly skilled players, both with DMRs and using scopes go head-to-head, the person using Stability has a small advantage. Skill and steady hands will still win the day but Stability allows you to keep your aim on target when facing multiple bullet strikes. Similarly, the player with DMR and Stability will have a larger advantage over a player with AR at long range. But (and yes, there’s always a “but”) the player they’re fighting may have made a choice for a different mod in that slot, which may come into play with an additional grenade or something else. Victory is never guaranteed…
This led me to believe they suggest that the standard system would be not going out of scope like in the E3 build, with the stability mod severely reducing the bounce you would get when you wouldn’t have stability.
I made this thread out of fear: i just want to see it confirmed like you guys interpret it: everyone being knocked out of their scope, except those with stability.

Most questions are answered via NeoGAF. I’m assuming that we’ll see more about them in the coming days or when the next Sparkast is up. Otherwise, I’d chalk it up to being unable to do so because of NDAs.

I wish they clarified the specializations and certain AAs with in depth talk.I want more about camo, jet pack, and even PV. I’d like to actually hear their thoughts on how they actually balanced these things and more scenarios. They know the community has been fuzzy about some of these things.
It seems like their answer to everything is, the better player will win. I don’t care about something I know; I want to hear more about the balancing.

Guess I’ll Have to start keeping an eye on NeoGAF…
