A simple YES/NO from BS Angel or Bravo please

A simple question: Yes or no, are we ever going to see objective game types in big team battle?

No.

Because they hate puppies.

But really, this is the single largest matchmaking omission I’ve seen in Halo in my 6 years of XBL activity. Its a real downer.

I wish they would. That used to be all I played. Playing CTF and Assault on Avalanche was the best time i’ve ever had playing Halo MM.

Not a big fan of Slayer, or small team game modes for that matter. Slayer just seems like a sloppy mess to me. Big Team Objective is a place where you got to use actual tactics to win.

I shouldn’t have to go back to Reach just to play Big Team Objective.

What if they don’t know? (I mean, you didn’t give them that option in your post…)

I would have to say no, for one big reason. The way the game is designed.

Look at Ragnarok, this game in a 4 vs 4 is nothing more than a slayer’s paradise. That’s all big team objective would turn into as this game is played at such long ranges with the DMR.

If you start playing FLAG based large maps, you’ll start seeing longer and longer games, with less people trying to complete the objective as they’d just slay people. The slow recharge on the shields would make caping a flag take forever as you’d have to kill one person and wait to adv and you’d have 3-4 more DMRs shooting at you, and you die.

I see this happen maybe later in the year, but I don’t see this even on the table at the moment.

For me, BTB Objective IS Halo. 2 Flag on Bloodgulch or Sidewinder - those are my earliest Halo MP memories.

Well, the fact that they said in the most recent Bulletin that they are going to start incorporating various gametypes into playlists (rather than the mostly one-gametype playlist we have now) bodes well for this, but crazier things have been omitted from Matchmaking before. I sure would like to see this, since Infinity Slayer really lacks any depth of gameplay and has started to get very boring.

Given join in progress, the other systems and gameplay I’d prefer BTB objective have its own playlist. That way people who want unlimited kill BTB slayer drag that playlist down and not BTB Slayer with it.

Anyone that played Reach BTB would know what I’m talking about. Big parties almost always voted in objective variants for unlimited kill 15 minute BTB slayer and to have an easy win vs randoms once the majority of opposition players had quit.

This time around we’d have JIP to enable losers who hold the objective to pad their stats and new unforunate players would be constantly taking the place of quitting players.

For those opposed to BTB Objective because of how they think it will play badly or how 8v8 flag or hill will just be a mess – weren’t these the same factors for BTB objective in previous halos? And did it still stop it from being as fun?

People who abuse objectives to pad stats are the minority. We should not deny the majority of players the chance to play fun objective games because of a pathetic minority.

I’ve been playing objectives such as CTF and KOTH on the crimson playlist and it’s halo at its best. Its just so much fun to playt a game where people can’t win by standing in the same spot the whole game. It’s how BTB was always meant to be and it sucks that we are being denied it.

So, anyways, Angel/Bravo… how about an answer?

Primary problem with BTB Objective: Instant Respawns.

I’m okay with having big team objective…but ONLY if it is its own playlist.

I personally am not a big fan of CTF, so if I want to play slayer…I don’t want others deciding what mode I play. You could have 8 votes for a CTF and 8 for Slayer…but if CTF is the first choice and Slayer the second, you are playing CTF.
