A simple fix for a lot of people.

“Halo 4 is a good game, but not a good halo game!”

I’ve seen this saying thrown around lately.

Halo 4 is still a Halo game. The underlying mechanics that made Halo, Halo are still there.

The problem lies in the new additions. I for one, am fine with loadouts, but the ordinance and no weapons on map and all the other new additions have changed the game so drastically for a lot of people.

For those giving up now, I propt you to play one last game.

Load up a remake of gaurdian, or the pit, or lockout or any classic Halo map you might have enjoyed, and give it a run through on Halo 4.

Take off ordinance, put weapons on map and turn FF back on. Leave loadouts on if you’d like, and just play through with a couple of friends.

Aside from the unfortunate sprint mechanic which is unremoveable, the game should play fairly similar to its predecessor Halo 3.

The problem for a lot of people here are how drastically the new mechanics changed the game. What I think we need to do is ask 343i for a Classic Team Slayer playlist. Rather than just giving up like those before us, we need to work to change the game.

The Classic Slayer playlist would be 4v4 team slayer on Forge map remakes and ragnorak.

it would have:

  • Static Weapon Spawns
  • Friendly Fire enabled
  • No ordinance
  • Possibly loadouts*
  • Forge Map remakes, so maps like Gaurdian, Lockout, The Pit, Colossus etc.
  • Increased speed
  • Decreased aim assist and bullet magnetism
  • decreased hitboxes.

What do you guys think?

I think this would be a simple fix for a lot of peoples problems with the games.

Give other suggestions for the playlist etc. below, and or feel free to point out other problems you see in the game that I may have missed.

Team Slayer Pro has all of those things except old map remakes.

By loadouts I meant custom loadouts.

Also, it doesn’t have static weapon spawns. As for the remakes, that was so we had decent maps to play on. The new maps are good… just not “Haloesque” maps.

If it’s a classic playlist, then custom loadouts wouldn’t be allowed because that isn’t very classic.

These are the settings for Halo 4’s Slayer Pro

[/li]- 3 non-customizable loadouts. An AR, DMR, or BR. Pistol as a secondary

  • No armor abilities
  • Resupply armor mod (allowing the pick up of grenades)
  • One starting Frag grenade
  • No motion tracker
  • 10% to 15% speed boost to actions such as moving and reloading
  • No ordinance drops. Instead, there are classic (static) weapon spawns

That makes it almost exactly like Halo 3, with a tiny bit of Reach (The 3 loadouts).

I agree. Maybe add an Objective playlist too.

They shouldn’t change the whole game to fit one player type which is of a smaller and smaller population. No matter how much I want a classic feel, it’s not going to happen across the whole game. I’m glad too. Infinity gametypes can be a stress remover. Just add in one or two playlists for Competitive players, please!

impossible

You forgot one major flaw in your plan beside sprint

YOU CAN’T -Yoinking!- TURN OFF INSTANT RESPAWN WHICH IS ONE OF THE MAJOR PROBLEMS OF HALO 4

so don’t tell me to play a -Yoinking!- custom game when i can’t even make my own custom settings.

AND YOU CAN’T PLAY FLAG ON GUARDIAN or lockout etc so don’t tell me that bs either

I’m still thinking up ideas, but you are correct.

As for the loadouts, I for one do enjoy the ability to tailor a class specifically to my needs and wants, so I personally would like it in, but it doesn’t have to be in if people don’t like it.

The goal is to make a playlist that does utilise Halo 4’s good points, whilst removing the bad. There is nothing specifically wrong with custom classes (save for some of the weapons in it) which is why I thought of keeping them.

Slayer Pro is tuned down to far, but Infinity Slayer is completely mindless. What I’m going for is a brdige in between that also brings back more classic gameplay and maps.

I don’t see why you are getting mad at me, sir. It’s not my fault, and I’d change it if I could.

That is a problem with 343is game design (one that would have been fixed had they had a beta) and we will likely get the option to turn of intstant respawns in a future title update.

Just go with me on this, please. I’m trying to do something positive among the muck of negative around here.

I hate to say this but I personally don’t believe 343 will ever do this.
They seem to love their new additions more than the community.

I don’t know if you have heard but 343 promised us a classic playlist on launch and it never showed up. Even so, the weapon balance is a bit off for it to feel like a Halo. Now you may say they can update it with some nerfing and buffing but that’s just it. They can, it doesn’t mean they will. They have yet to announce a TU of any or even acknowledge the communities requests such as this.

Very true.

If, however, a lot of people were to take to this idea, they may be foreced to do it in a matter of speaking.

The problem is, most of the people who would take to this idea have left already.

Lets hope for the sake of the game that they do awknoledge the community at some point… soon.

I would a love a more classic playlist, but just to let you know; changing hit boxes and bullet magnetism is very complex and cannot be done on a playlist by playlist basis. It’s either a game wide TU or nothing.
