Many people offered assurances that the H4 population would increase significantly around christmas time… Well its been a week, holidays are in schools are out… So where are they?
Hardly anyone is buying the map packs, loads of players are still on Reach.
Has a Halo game ever flopped this bad?
Im not intending this as an ‘I told you so’ thread but obviously theres something fundamentally wrong with the game and I doubt the DMR / boltshot / AC is to blame.
Too much focus on stats, customisations, skins and the like instead of just plain ol’ red vs blue mass murder?
Has the game become too complicated and do you think a return to grass roots simplistic gameplay is the answer?
Im all for a games evolution but has H4 gone a bit too far?
First thought is that your use of “grass roots” is slightly out of place considering the non-political nature of halo 4.
Additional thoughts are that i dont know that i have ever heard of customization killing a game. especially when the majority of it is cosmetic. People have always focused on stats.
i dont know exactly why people dont like the game, but a big portion of it seems to be balance. which i get, but i dont necessarily agree with every point of contention there.
what killed halo 4 for me? well nothing has, i just started playing other games, it happens. i bought dragons dogma, hitman and walking dead(all on sale)those have been occupying my time. im learning though that ive fallen out of the competative shooter crowd and more into story based games or RPGs, slower games.
The game looks complex and interesting, but it boils down to far less than H2 or 3 ever were.
Encounters are over too quickly, the killtimes are too high. Things like ordnance detract from the feeling of serious, mature and worthwhile gameplay.
Excessive autoaim/so on makes the game too easy.
It goes on much further. It is an OK game but that’s all. That’s as far as I can imagine it being called. The changes it needs to make it a better, GOOD or GREAT game are severe and I doubt they’ll be implemented. It’s rare that a poor game is fixed, it just ends up marginally better than it was. OK, but nothing amazing.
Halo 4 cost $60, 000, 000? That was their budget, or something similar? Give me $60, 000, 000 and the H3 engine – I’ll teach myself to code and I’ll make a better game than this. Such a poor effort.
Maybe it is when I play but I see 100,000 people playing match making everyday. How is that bad?
I see another 10,000 playing Spartin Ops.
Out of all my friends that play halo there is always 1/3rd playing campaign. If that holds true then ~35,000 people are playing each day.
I guess I can’t see a problem with the population. Before Christmas a large segment of my friends were on Reach. Now they are on 4. Only 10% of my friend went with BO2 after all if us leaving Halo ODST for World at War. The old Halo is dead. I hope we never go back to running for spawned weapons, even in Goldeneye that was a stupid mechanic.
Are there things wrong with 4, sure, I could name a dozen, but Reach or 3 are not the answer any longer. Other than people on these forems I have found no one that wants to change the base mechanics of H4.
Btw, base mechanics are ODs, AA, Sprint, and loadouts.
If you don’t know what exactly is wrong with Halo 4 or peoples problems with the game, check out the threads, namely the Custom Games Options thread, that’ll give some clue about the issues regarding Halo 4.
The game isn’t complicated at all, its just unfinished. Reach and Halo 3 were complete games upon release and Halo 4 isn’t.
> For a AAA title, the population is a total joke, and surely proves the point that this game is not what we wanted,
>
> The very fact Reach is still well populated should be the boot up the backside to 343i to fix H4 and give us the game we wanted,
>
> Drop all the guff and strip it back to the Halo we all love,
>
> I agree completely with the OP, bring back good ole RvB bloodshed without all the crap!!
