Personally, I really liked Warzone. It managed to mix both the PvP and PvE aspects of Halo in its sandbox and even though I came to not like Halo 5, I thought Warzone was a great mode to play.
My only real complaint with it was how heavily it relied on the REQ System. In my opinion, Warzone was at its greatest in its initial months: when Ghosts and Warthogs were the common threats with occasional Scorpions, Wraith Tanks, and the Mantis being those unexpected but powerful threats that players would work together to take down. Later on when games started flooding with Hannibal Vehicles, the PvE bosses would just get obliterated by power weapons, and there came this mindset - at least in my experience - of people not wanting to waste their cards if their team started to fall behind a few points, that was when Warzone stopped being fun for me.
So for a future game mode suggestion that isn’t a Battle Royale, mine would be Warzone except scaled back a little - at least with the amount of powerful weapons and vehicles you can have on the field at once. Have captureable bases but make them act more like Halo 4’s Dominion where they can be upgraded overtime, maybe add sentry guns with Marine guards, and weapon pads/vehicle hangars that can spawn stronger and stronger weapons/vehicles the longer you have it in your possession, have some Banished forces drop in for some points/resources, and so on.
Obviously this is something that I’d want 343 to try later on in the future once they have their act together a bit more here, but for me a Warzone or at least a more Dominion-like game mode would be something I think would be a bit more fitting direction for Halo to retread and rework rather than chasing the Battle Royale trend.
I could do without Warzone. It was a fine game mode initially, but then it turned into kill farming and spawn trapping, and then people just getting their last shots on the big bosses and getting credit for the kills.
I would much rather see Dominion return. Extremely underrated gamemode, one of my favorites if not my total favorite from Halo 4. I think the scoring might need some slight retooling, but great game mode.
I would like Warzone if it was rebranded. Instead of REQ packs we get stores/upon death that can be used to buy stuff with points gained from PvE, objective and kills.
You could save up a lot to buy better things or use them to buy lots of little things. More stuff opens up as the game progresses.
Dominion I hated to be honest. I did like Extraction though.
if there use the same basic formule from halo 5 warzone then i like to see it comming back more.
the main things i mean more: 2 base’s 2 small outpost’s and 1 center building.
basic you need to reach some total points to win the match or destroy the enemy base core.
and replace the REQ system with some type off points system that you need to pay some points to use some weapons and vehicles from it.
but then i think there need to make the points more team base in total you can use and to earn it you need to make some kills from the other team/ capture the base’s and some strong Bosses also.
Honestly at this point give us literally anything that’s not a standard basic 4v4 of FFA game we can actually sink our teeth into. I don’t care if it’s Warzone, Invasion, Dominion, regular 8v8 BTB, firefight, infection, grifball. The game has no fun gamemodes anymore and without the 12v12 “BTB” playlist even working most of the time, the game is just really dry for anyone who didn’t previously main those basic modes.
That was what it became later on when everyone had stockpiled their cards and could just overwhelm the other team with Hannibal vehicles, which is why I said if Warzone was to come back I’d like it to scale back a bit on the vehicles and put stricter limits on to how many Scorpions or other heavy vehicles could be on the field at once. I thought Warzone was great in the initial months when I was able to be all sneaky-sneak and actually go behind enemy lines when they’ve got my team backed into our Core, snatch one of the bases, and that would be the start of us turning the whole game around against the other team. Was a lot more difficult to do that later on.
Similarly, when everyone was able to get weapons like Spartan Lasers, bosses such as some of the Banshee bosses would just instantly get vaporized when they spawn in which took the fun out of it. I liked moments like having the Hunter bosses on Apex 7 on top of the central base where teams were trying to capture the base and dogpile on the Hunters, trying to get those kills. That was a great way to start a match. Personally, I didn’t mind bosses counting for the last shot due to that being a way for a team that was falling behind to still keep up as there were a couple moments when I was able to snipe a boss out from the other team when they had it surrounded.
I definitely would like points to be gathered up someway, I just don’t want it to have the map covered in armored columns of Scorpions/Mantises or an entire air force of Banshees/Phaetons. In the campaign at least we have the mechanics for Weapon/Vehicle call-ins so you could do the same for this kind of new Warzone and maybe have the bases you capture spawn certain weapons/vehicles automatically with some equipment spawns as well.
I mean we all want that, I’d just like a suggestion for after we get what we always used to have (Firefight, Infection) that’ll focus a bit more on what makes Halo, Halo rather than just throw in a Battle Royale just because.
in halo 5 warzone you have a limit how much vehicles there can on the map for each team.
so if there using the same thing that the max limit is lets tell 4 vehicles for each team max is on the map then its no problem at all.
i think the same layout for the weapons and vehicles is good but the spawn can be diffrend the same we see on halo 5 warzone.
there are so far 2 or 3 maps where the center building can be use to spawn vehicles on the map.
so that can also be happing in this new warzone map.
Warzone was an extremely fun mode with a few major issues that got worse as time went on.
REQs and the ability to spawn with what you wanted resulted in pay-to-win unbalances. I’m fully aware you could get the same gear for free but buying packs still put you at an advantage.
Other issue is that the gameplay was too predictable. Teams knew the best routes to take bases/attack boss spawns and in the end every match became similar tactics wise.
Throw in weapon/vehicle spawn points, maybe varying the spawns depending on points scored (rubber banding to give better vehicles to losing team maybe?)
Have more than the three bases so that you have to spread the team or pick targets and randomise the boss spawn locations.
Essentially it would become a BTB variation. I’d go for that.
Warzone is a controversial mode. Why? Well one could argue that its REQ’s were horrible, and you could also make the case that AI in MP just tarnishes the experiences.
Warzone would definitely work in Infinite, 12v12 maps check, weapon/vehicle variants check, boss variants check, and so on. The question that really matters is if they do bring it back, how should it be similar/different to what we had with Halo 5?
I think they would make it into a far more fair/balanced mode just common sense wise, as they wouldn’t need to sell REQ packs, another question that comes to mind is if AI’s should be in there at all. I mean on one hand AI’s are kind of what makes it stand out, on the other it arguably takes away from the experience so its up for debate.
Regardless, the more modes the better. Infinite needs to offer a home for all Halo refugees lol.
What made me end up stop playing Warzone was really the gigantic pool of power weapons and vehicles and how towards the later stages of Halo 5’s lifecycle it was just unfun to play when everyone could just keep sending out such powerful vehicles like Hannibal Wasps so, currently, Halo Infinite being rather limited in that actually helps it there, haha.
AI can definitely be left out of it entirely if it seems better that way which I can see that being the case. Other than the points, they weren’t really much for anything else. I liked their addition, but can see how they don’t really contribute much to the game otherwise.
thats also tactic more to use at the last point the power stuff.
if you think is good.
the last boss the Warden Eternal was one off the boss you need to kill to make the winning score or come really close to it.
so the best tactice was then use the best of the best you can use and save a lot off REQ power at some point.
that you can use it for the scorpoin’s or wasp’s or power weapons.
so thats something is not going to chance at all if there add warzone in halo infinite that the best tactic is always to use the best from the best on the last boss to win or come close to winning the match.
