This is more of a message to 343 rather the forums but I don’t know where else to post it.
Hi 343
Please create what felt like a promise from bungie ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXeST0NMtic ).
When I first played Halo 1 and got to the landing on the beach it was one of the most impressive and involving experiences I have ever had with gaming. Same for my father, brother and rest of my family. Same goes for the first encounter with the flood and even the final escape sequence (although a little flawed and later Halo’s did a ok job with those).
But Halo 2, 3 etc never did do that large battle, it never delivered that jaw dropping moment. It never had me saying “Replay that mission right now!”
Master Chief always felt like a hero of sorts, a man who would lead in battle. All that ever happens is six or so marines jump in various vehicles. Some moments of later Halo’s had cool feeling moments, like surrounding a scarab on mongoose’s, its good but just not there quite yet.
I realise this kind of large scale fight may not be fitting with the current style of Halo 4 but then DLC it or something, I felt that no other Halo had anywhere near as powerful a moment as those few in Halo 1.
For more experienced forum posters, please don’t be angry, I have no idea where else to email or message this.
Andy

I disagree, battles like the ones outside of the Control room in Halo 2 as well as the battle outside of the citadel within Halo 3 were fairly huge; in fact, much larger than the introduction to the Silent Cartographer. But I do agree with your opinion that Halo 4 should have some large enemy encounters. I just hope 343i decide to implement some and design them well.
Well you obviously like nostalgia. It’s a sweet post and let’s hope it will happen.
Welcome to Waypoint, be sure to go on roll call so we know more about you.
Mactashiv out
Here’s what I want for Halo 4. Please do the “Global Battle” that was cut in Halo: Reach and put it in Halo 4. There has never been a Halo game that I truly felt like I was in a war, they’re mostly small skirmishes.
I agree fully that those were larger conflicts than Silent Cartographer opening, but considering the time passed and what we had seen from other games I was expecting a much larger scale battle due to gaming progression. Halo was quite unique for its time, now it feels like everyone else is at the same level.
Thank you Mactashiv, I will find role call.
