How about some discussion from 343 about its intentions with Halo Reach?
The online gaming population of Reach is low, and I can understand from a financial standpoint that investing more resources into it may not be the best path. I want to know if 343 has plans for Reach (aside from the upcoming TU).
For instance:
Will there be playlist updates? If so, is there a general time line set? (I realize that within the last 4 weeks, we have had new maps introduced to team slayer)
Are there plans to release additional downloadable content?
Aside from the TU, does 343 see any reason to change anything about the mechanics of Reach in those playlist’s not affected by the title update?
Does 343 think that the current credit distribution system is ideal?
Basically, I am asking if 343 intends to modify Reach or do they intend to leave it alone and focus on current projects. I am not looking for justification, just an answer.
While 343 clearly care more about the Halo community they’re just beginning. We just have to be patient until they reveal more. I know it’s hard when Reach sucks so badly.
From what I have seen so far 343 are more open to customisation and suggestion than Bungie who adopted a holier than thou attitude and constantly handled playlist updates badly.
I say give 343 ample time to get their heads around the game, I don’t want Bungie v2.
I appreciate the need for more time.
Perhaps my next question has been answered and I simply missed it:
Do you think it is too much to ask for 343 to release a statement along the lines of “We are aware of some of the communities concerns and we are looking into them. At this time, we do not have a general plan or schedule to address those concerns.”
I’m sorry you haven’t heard about Halofest, Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary, the Title Update and the Beta hoppers coming up live within the month to test a set of variables to get feedback from the community to craft changes being implemented for the release of H:CEA.
Would you need any referencing? I can get us a Link to hyperlink everything you could need. Or you can PM him for some nearly instant feedback (he seems to be on a lot, and helpful)
I have heard about Halofest. From what I know, the changes you are referencing are for a discrete set of gametypes. I enjoy the variety of Halo Reach, and I look forward to the coming changes. But from what I have read, these changes will affect a small portion of the game. I have mentioned that I am aware of the upcoming TU (Which I assume you are talking about), but the TU only applies to a select part of the game.
I have not heard of the “beta hoppers” and I would appreciate it if someone could send me a link to a page containing information about them.
343 give the make the vehicles take reduced damage from bullet weapons like the sniper, DMR, pistol and AR!
PLZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ???
I am not sure what JAMES 24993 is asking for.
Instead of specific requests, I hope that this thread will be a place to voice desires to know more about what 343 plans to do with Reach, if anything.

I’m asking for the fact that a sniper can destroy any vehicle in just one clip to be achknowladged. And to answer your earlier question, beta hoppers is a beta playlist featuring TU style gameplay out september/october
Thank you for the clarification.
If I understand what you said about the beta hoppers, then it seems as though they are a device to get feedback about the TU. If this is correct, then I applaud the idea of getting feedback from the players about a potential change.

The title update only tweaks certain AA’s, and adds new playlists, woo hoo, how aboutfixing the TERRIBLE matchmaking, and the atrocious host selection, or matching me ith people that have dlc, just lie every other shooter out there. OR maybe add some options to the search restrictions, like low ping, or my country instead of language.

Yup, that’s it in a nutshell. It’s a new playlist which everyone can play, and you just give feedback to it on this forum.

You mean the option to toggle fall damage, toggle bloom, toggle shield bleed through and play in a playlist where the Pistol has been modified to an approximation of the original CE variant, on top of the minor (yet possibly huge impact) of the changes to Armour-Lock and Active Camo.
Your “only” covers but 2 things. There is much, much more.
I agree with this. Especially on playlist updates. It might just be me but I’ve noticed a shift in score attack. I rarely see gruntpacolpyse as much as I did before, especially on beachhead. Now I’m not saying that they’ve fiddled with the map/gametype weightings as I have no way of knowing. I’m just going off my own personal experience here.
My point being is, I hope 343i doesn’t make unannounced playlist changes.

That is gameplay problems, that all will not matter if the connection is constantly garbage and the MM sucks. LOOK EVERYONE IN THIS GAME ASIDE FROM ONE PERSON LIVES IN THE EU, LETS GIVE THE ONE GUY IN CANADA HOST , WHAT A GREAT IDEA! Hell AA’s and fall damage arent even problems, they are just things people whine and moan over because they cant get used to new aspects of a GAME.
I should have realized that a response from someone affiliated with 343 was impractical. Instead, I would rather hear from the community about the original topic of this thread.
Do you (the Reach community) want more information concerning 343’s plans for Reach?
I, too, am interested in what 343 plans on doing with Reach’s Matchmaking. I highly doubt they’ll leave it out to rot, and any changes they make will most likely be carefully considered – but even so, I don’t feel so comfortable being in the dark.
> While 343 clearly care more about the Halo community
You seem to be implying that Bungie chose not to update Reach, when the simple fact was that they weren’t able to as they had to prepare to hand control over to Microsoft and 343.
> Bungie who adopted a holier than thou attitude and constantly handled playlist updates badly.
This is completely false, as anyone who ever spent a significant amount of time in Optimatch is aware.
Bungie maintained Reach post-release as best as they were able to given the circumstances. Under those circumstances, in fact, their handling of Matchmaking updates was nothing less than exemplary. At no point did they adopt a “holier than thou” attitude, and at no point did they stop caring about the Halo community.
Did they make mistakes? Yes, obviously. But they corrected those mistakes when they were able to, and they were not nearly as callous and uncaring as you’re implying that they were. There’s no justification for your Bungie-bashing.
