Seriously where are these guys? During Sops crimson did…EVERYTHING! They we’re the most badass team of Spartan IV’s rivaling the legends of the other generations, so why haven’t they been talked about at all?
Personally I think 343i had no reason to create Fireteam Osiris, they could of just kept the name Crimson and used Locke, Buck, Tanaka and Vale as it’s members. Both Vale and Locke’s Spartan careers are all talk and no show. Even Buck and Tanaka have only a small bit about their short time as super soldiers. I think it just would of been better to have a good source to call to for the skills and making them Fireteam Crimson that fought on Requiem would of been a great way to do so.
The only person who couldn’t of been apart of Crimson at the time is Tanaka, since she was an requiem and apart of Domino squad…I mean Fireteam Domino. What’s the difference really? It’d give them some nice background and extra chatter explained why Tanaka had to replace the last member of Crimson along with giving them more of a personal feel to the Covenant and Jul’s destruction. Well, ever human has a personal reason to see those two things gone but we don’t see that much from these characters perspective as a Spartan.
It’s okay to say a character had issues with another but it’s just better to show their hardships. The best example of this is Buck. If he just showed up with his banter he’d probably be pretty annoying. What turns this around is that we saw what he was like during the war. During the Covenant war, he had lost all hope and seeing him happy now just makes other people happy. The man deserves it after all he went through, you certainly can’t get that feeling from just saying “He always loses his squad and is a hard -Yoink- for that reason.” Bungie did that in ODST and it was “meh” but in Reach they showed how much he really worked to save his people, so it put more weight on what he said in ODST. It made the “It’s like reach all over again!” line tug pretty hard knowing that he is always in this same position never able to do anything but try.
If Osiris was Crimson they’d even have an attachment to Halsey, Roland’s argument in the defense of Cortana and the Prometheans. They’d want to see halsey cpatured after “betraying” them and hunting ofr her in spartan Ops.Most of Osiris doesn’t really understand what it was like at Requiem or even to fight Prometheans. I wouldn’t be surprised if for Locke, Vale and Buck Halo 5G was the first their time they’ve ever seen them in person. Crimson fought and lost people to the Prometheans, they have a great reason to never let anyone compose another group of humans ever again. There is a huge chance that no one in Osiris even knows that Prometheans are the souls of humans turned into machines. Crimson, aware of composition would have a huge morale and ethical reasons weighted on their battles.
How many unwilling slaves do you have to kill to get to the villain, can you change them back, will they have a future or even a post if you do? Crimson is a group of people who’d ask these questions, adding a whole new layer of story in Halo 5. I think it would of been great to see Osiris corner Jul and make quote about how they chased him all over Requiem.
They’ve worked many ops with Roland and understand where an AI would come from seeking it’s freedom. Again only one member of Osiris would know if this sort of and that’s Buck for the event’s of ODST. It’s not bad for a single character to have insight on a sujbect but when they all do it makes them closer as people and cements their union.
Crimson would of been a much better option for Halo 5 then any other fireteam expect Majestic. They’d carry the most power and awareness with them since they like MC would be forced into doing things they didn’t agree with. Killing Promethean Knights might as well be killing innocent people, they’d understand MC’s defection but also understand that they all have a duty and must uphold it for the greater good.
So what do you think? Am I just blowing hot steam or does any of this make sense to people out there?
