A rank system, please 343i

I know a lot of you have seen thread after thread regarding the fact of having a ranking system put into the next Halo game. For my reasons are slightly different from that of the competitive players on here. The reason I would rather have it instead of the progression ranking is simply because I hate being up against players that are better than me, period. I know this is a selfish request but honestly I liked it whenever I played against players of the same skill rather than being put up against a beast mode try hard MLG player.

I know I am not the best player or the worse, but I’m above average with a KD of 1.5, I know that isnt high or anything but for me I can’t find the game to be fun whenever I play against players that simply are better. I can’t think of any other way to put it. I enjoy MM and Campaign but that is probably my biggest concern on the matter. I can’t improve my skill since I know I have reached my limit. I could try to improve but overall I can’t seem to get better. According to the CSR I am a 38 which in Halo 3 I was a 38 so I am happy about that at least.

So please 343i put in a real TRUE ranking system for the next game, possibly like Halo 3’s since that is the one I was most use to. I never got the chance to see Halo 2’s though.

Agreed its nice to play against players of similar skill which is one reason we should have a ranking system.

CSR and True skill (Halo 3)are pretty much the same thing, I personally do not want every playlist to be a ranked playlist.

> CSR and True skill (Halo 3)are pretty much the same thing, I personally do not want every playlist to be a ranked playlist.

They are not.

> CSR and True skill (Halo 3)are pretty much the same thing, I personally do not want every playlist to be a ranked playlist.

Actually I think they are two different things but to the point, thing is I too don’t want every playlist to be a ranked playlist which the social playlist is wasn’t a ranked playlist if I remember correctly but I would like to play against players that of similar skills rather the MLG players.

Ranked and Social playlists, Halo 3 had it right.

> CSR and True skill (Halo 3)are pretty much the same thing, I personally do not want every playlist to be a ranked playlist.

They are intended to serve the same function. They in no way represent the same thing.

I will leave this here

I’d appreciate it if you read the whole thing though, it’s not that long. Also, be sure to leave a post or thank to show support.

I am not going to list them and explain what would suit my personal tastes and needs, even though I would like to believe that it would be the ideal thing to do, based on the experience I have with Halo. And for a few minutes, I ask of you to do the same. We can care about the new features once we TRY them. From there, 343 will use our feedback to improve them. It’s not worth complaining BEFORE that, though. The thing is, there won’t be two opportunities to implement a proper Ranked Matchmaking post-release without a massive update, hence the importance of voicing our concerns right now. So think of this thread as a urgent, desperation call from me, and many Matchmaking players that needs to reach 343’s ears as soon as possible. I hope you, the reader, will join in voicing it.

But as a Matchmaking player, and a very experienced Halo player (and with the drastic change that Reach was from the usual Halo experience) I have found that I can adapt to most new features that developers decide to bring the to table. I tend not to care until the hands-on / release.

Not as a blind fan, but as a supporter of those who keep my favorite series alive, and as a competitive and skilled player who won’t lose to a “battle” against the features of the game. I will attempt to adapt, because I love Halo. This said, I intend to at least give them a chance to impress.

That was the biggest downfall of the Arena; no incentive to get high ranks and show them off, as the Divisions were hidden in the depths of the complex Service Record.

But this, (having proper Ranked hoppers) is what will keep the game alive and strong in numbers for a long time to come online, like Halo 3 was, and Reach when Arena was good.

These are pretty good points. I agree with them all. The only one that I can see being a problem is for some reason there seems to be a issue with visible ranks with a lot of people. I don’t really see it as a problem personally however. It shows the ranking system really works. Well as long as players cant de-rank and exploit it of course.
