How long is the gap between Halo 3 and Halo 4 in years?

Impossible. Cryo can’t keep you alive for that long. It would also mess up the timeline significantly.
We know that it takes place at least 4 years after Halo 3. It definitley won’t be something like 100,000 years. It’ll be about 10 years at the most.
It hasn’t been officially stated. It has been said that it takes place a few years after Halo 3. The Halo Legends episode titled Origins suggests that Halo 4 takes place in or after 2556.
The 100,000 years refers to the time between the Forerunner Saga (Cryptum and Primordium) and the games.

The thing is that cryo theoretically can preserve your body that long but you would die way before hand. This is as based on theory of course. Yes, yes I am a nerd.
